Just got back from the game and a post-game dinner at Lidia's (the Osso Bucco was outstanding!).

A few random thoughts:

1. What a great win. Honestly, this is the type of game that Pitt seems to find a way to lose, so coming out with a W felt great.

2. Our W was helped quite a bit by GT play calling. I still can't believe they went up the middle on 4th down with 1 to go on their own 35 yard line. Going for it on your side of the field was incredibly risky. Running a straight dive up the middle was plain stupid. We only stopped their wide runs once all game. Why run into the teeth of the defense instead of stretching the field? Johnson is going to take some serious heat for those decisions.

3. At this point in the year, Chawntez Moss is our best running back. He really can cut and hits the hole very quickly. Sorry, but James still doesn't look like James.

4. Peterman played what I think was his best game as a Panther. Good decisions and accurate throws.

5. Our defense still needs much improvement. Today, our LB's really got eaten up. While I love his moxy, Gallambos played a crap game. Yes, he made a play or two at the very end, but was MIA most of the game. To stop GT, you have to have a MLB who really explodes and makes plays inside out. Bradley was also not good. Too many plays he was in position to make a big stop and whiffed. Idowu was a non-factor. We will be much better at LB next year.

6. Puzzling play calling at the end of the first half. We have the ball deep in our end of the field with little time on the clock, and we throw on first down????? Almost picked, but stops the clock and ultimately allows GT to kick a field goal to get within 1. Stupid play calling at that point in the game.

7. Blewitt makes every kick an adventure.

Overall, a very big win. 4-2 feels a TON better then 3-3.

Valid points for sure.... Your number 6 had me scratching my head at half time. As you mentioned we threw on 1st down, and then again on 3rd and 4 for an incompletion at the chains. Seemed more appropriate to run at least one run there on either of those plays

6. - We (almost) never throw on 1st down. People complain about us being conservative. Not a bad call all things considered. ---- If we run 3 times, Tech still had 2 timeouts - A three and out - punt from deep in our end - Tech probably gets a FG anyway.

3. A good thing is that Pitt is showing that they have multiple talented options on offense that can make plays outside of Conner. It will make them a better team down the stretch than relying on Conner to carry is 25-30 a game.

#5...our lb's are terrible. I don't see Idowu getting better next year, I see him getting passed up next year. Wirginis, Brightwell, Pine, Zeise, Pugh, McKee/Reynolds should all be getting PT. Idowu can fly around on special teams.

nope, disagree...Tech, knowing they get the second half kickoff and not that confident (usually) throwing the ball gets the ball with about thirty seconds in this scenario and runs the clock out I believe.

Johnson went for it twice on 4th down in his own territory. He was not playing conservative in any way.

It is Pitt - Who is to say Tech does not return the punt for a TD? - Pitt needed to keep the ball and score or run out the clock. The best way to do that was not to turtle.

Also - Tech kicker had an extremely strong leg (putting it into endzone against the wind every time)

The best ACC announcer one liner was Saturday toward the end of the game when Tyrique Jarrett made a couple key stops.
The announcer said Jarrett is bigger than the Death Star!
Good one!

Yes, agree on next year's linebackers. Did Wirginis play? I think he would have been used frequently against GA Tech offense as he is quicker!

Pitt Offense has proven it can stay with any Team in CFB on Offense and against some Great Coaches in Gundy, Fedora, Johnson. Still, Pitt doesn’t have a dependable Defense and is still a work in Progress with injured Players growing every game.

However, scoring 35+ Points on an ever increasing Balance Run-Pass Progressive Big Nate Attack is impressive as the Wideouts come out. Until the Defense comes around and ends shaky, rough and 30+ Points Games, it doesn’t appear to be ending anytime soon.

Pitt won on 3 Great Plays or Flukes depending how anyone wants to see it.
1. A Lucky Bounce or Smart Coaching Position Center Field 31-yard by Chris Blewitt?
2. A 74-yard Touchdown Perfect Tip Pass caught by Scott in Perfect Stride??
3. Well-Earned 4th Down One Inch Stop by a bad GT Offensive Inside Call???

Coach Pat & Staff Panthers now have to take on the QB’s Bigger Bombers & RBs Ground Games of the ACC in UVA, VT, MIAMI, & CLEMSON and 3 of 4 Away with Tougher Defenses than PSU, UNC, OKSU & GT?

If they can stay Injury free at QB, and keep out running and bombing teams, so be it, until the Defense get its done? Pitt is getting better but by how much will be seen these next 4 games against 3 Ranked Teams?

So Much Done By OC Canada Offense!
So Much To Do By DC Conklin Defense??
Running Back Coach Powell's Special Teams Stay Steady Too?!

Coach Pat Narduzzi challenge is here to save the year, 10-2, 9-3, 8-4, 7-5, 6-6?
Narduzzi versus Mendehall????
Narduzzi versus Fuente???
Narduzzi versus Richt??
Narduzzi Versus Swinney?

One Big Injury to Pitt's QB Big Nate and Pitt Offense could go South in the ACC quicker than South of Oakland's Attitude too?
