Up 8 and lose by 7... Just a terrible performance by all but Luther who gave his all the rest of them just sucked it

Again, you are laughably wrong.
You don't take out the player who's playing the best just as he leads the team to the big lead.... to put a player back in who couldn't get out of his way all night.
Once the Pitt run ended.... THEN maybe you give Luther a blow. Not when he is in the midst of leading a 11-0 Pitt run.
Luther was defending during the 11-0 Pitt run that gave us a 48-40 lead. He goes out, and Louisville makes their next 8 shots.

Yeah, young had an awful game...shooting 50% from the field. Fts were missed, but that hardly warrants the meltdown you are having.
We had generated 8 straight stops with Luther in the game.
He goes out.... and Louisville makes their next 8 shots.

Jamie broke the momentum... killed Pitt's mojo at BOTH ends of the floor when he pulled Luther.
Young was 0-4 from the FT line... and committed 5 turnovers.... and was a matador on defense.
He was a -11 player tonight. Pitt lost by 7. Do the math. Luther was a +9.
Luther was on the floor during half that run.
Our offense flat lined.

Don't be stupid. It's not that he took him out... it is WHEN he took him out.
You have to have a pulse fort how your team is performing. Take him out after the hot streak ends for a blow. Not in the midst of it.
It did not help that he played Cam Johnson either. Johnson is not ready for ACC minutes. He is basically a spot up 3 point shooter that can't get his feet set.
Luther came back in after Louisville took a 51-50 lead. By that point, the momentum had completely swung and we were discombobulated.
We proceded to make our next four straight shots with Luther in the game to tie it at 58..... but now Louisville had their offensive mojo back.
The substitution of Luther when the score was 48-40 lost the game.
And vile may have done the same thing with him in. That is why critiquing moves like this is always dumb, because you can always be right.
Remember 5 games ago when people wondered why Luther played at all...I do. Luther would be getting no minutes and be off the team if we listened to the people on here.
You have to have a feel for how a particular player is performing THAT day... and for how he matches up against a particular opponent.
By the time the score was 48-40... it was abundantly clear the Mike Young was hurting the team more than helping it TODAY and the Ryan Luther was our best player TODAY.
Rotating through all 10 guys in the first half is one thing... so you can get a feel for who "has it" today.
But late in the second half, Jamie had all the evidence he needed. Young was a negative today, and needed to stay on the bench. The happiest person in the world coming out of the timeout was Rick Pitino, when he saw #4 go to the bench and #2 come back in.
It's the very definition of taking your foot off the opponent's neck.
We should of had 10 more points in the first half if we could have made some easy layups, bunnies, and ft's.
The announcers even said UL is playing bad PITT missed some easy ones and should be up by more. Missing those easy ones in the 1st half comes back to haunt us in the 2nd half.

I think our biggest issue was not valuing the ball. We gave the ville 5+ unforced turnovers. Of course we did not shoot free throws well either. In a tight game that is all it takes. A tough loss, and with a somewhat fragile team, could send us into a tailspin for the last 3.
Maia missed a layup - Artis missed a layup - Young got called for traveling when he should have had a layup - Young lost us a layup when he was not ready for a pass. - Missed free throws - Opportunities for loose balls that we did not come up with - Blown 3 on 1 break with score tied turnover with pass to Luther's feet. There is your game!
He played 28 today, so I don't think an extra 3-4 minutes would kill him considering Lee played all 40 for Ville and Robinson played 38.
