I was not at the game... AND there wasn't even a radio broadcast but... from what I saw (on Gametracker... comments from those at the game solicited)... I really got the impression that...
This 'team' is really ragged right now. This is NOT unexpected what with 3 grad transfers, 2 JUCOs and a freshman coming in (all except 1, Nix, can handle a regular rotation slot), and other players changing position.
Robinson looks pretty solid after recovering from off-season surgery. But, he is the ONLY player that is in our starting rotation that is playing the same position as last year.
Artis got his scoring going (which is good), and it was nice to see Slim get his going as well. Milligan can contribute. and ANO is fitting right in as the starter at C.
But... Jones seems to be lost right now... and Young does not seem to be adapting to PF that well. Maia, is not much more than a no-show. Wilson is injured for now. Jeter, has been good in practice but where does he fit into the rotation?
So, IMO we would need maybe 3 or 4 'cupcake' games (which we get after the Zags and before Purdue) for these players to start coming together as a team.
But, against the Zags... they lost their entire starting perimeter BUT.... their inside trio is back intact and they are gonna be further along as a team that ourselves.
That's why I don't like games like this at this time of the year. We are simply not ready for it and less ready than the Zags.
No?
