Georgia. There’s a new top Dawg.Who wins it all next year?
All depends upon who can buy the best players in the country first. Gotta love the NIL and what it has done to ruin college football.Who wins it all next year?
I mean, the playoffs will still likely include at least 2 or three of these teams: OSU, UGA, 'Bama, LSU, or Michigan. Or, maybe USC sneaks in. NIL really hasn't changed the top tier of college football that much. All depends upon who can buy the best players in the country first. Who cares, I don't watch that crap, when I first turned on the game last night and it was 45-7. The post season to me was pretty much Pitt-UCLA, that was the only game I watched all the way through.Who wins it all next year?

Neither...The Pitt Panthers.Who wins it all next year?

college football is increasingly becoming a highly regionalized, niche sport.
It is what I want, doesn't mean I'm watching it 100%. I don't want Bama to get in with 2 losses just because they think it's going to be a better game. I want to keep divisions and have AQ for ALL conference champs, and I don't care at all about BEST TEAMS being left out. Because being the best team has nothing to do with being champion. I don't care that the teams got destroyed, it was totally right who got in, and totally right that Bama was denied the opportunity BASED ON GAME RESULTS. Even the semifinals, I only watched maybe 10-15 minutes of each game.Aren’t the poster or keeps saying this is what you want? And who cares if the teams get destroyed, give the little guys a chance?
Meaning, that the CFP are not must see TV where I'm excited and tune in for the entire game- I might catch a few minutes. Someday, if Pitt ever makes it, at that point it will be the very first time I watch an entire CFP game.I don't watch that crap, when I first turned on the game last night... Well, which is it?
It always was. Fans just didn’t care. Their local Apple Cup trophy and PAC 10 title pursuit and Rose Bowl appearance banner was enough.
The playoffs nationalized everything. And now the regional stuff doesn’t matter as much. But Washington State is still the same team that has no chance at winning a NC as they were before the playoffs.
And that’s what has so many upset. We’ve nationalized a game where the majority can’t compete nationally, and never could.
It's basically stupid now, how New Year's Day had no college football and that was the day that they owned for a century. To me the bowl season is all about Pitt’s game and having those wacky bowls in the first few weekends of bowl season on in the background. I missed a few good games in the CFP semis but I’m pretty much done as soon as Pitts game is over.
I reached that point years ago; I think the last time I was interested and actually watched most of the game was when Ohio State won.True, but you used to have teams like Pitt, PSU, OSU, Michigan, ND, Colorado, USC win national titles. The last one in this group to do so was OSU and that was 8 years ago. I wonder if fatigue will set in and the ratings start to fall if it is the same 3 or 4 teams every year in the semis/final. Who will care outside the deep south and Stewart Mandel to see another rematch between Alabama and LSU for the title?
Not holding my breath on those two but I guess a blind sow finds an ear of corn eventually. But if the Miami and Louisville type teams can use NIL to bring in Top 5 to Top 10 classes, that will come at the expense of powers.
PSU had a few top 5 classes in the 90's with tons of NFL talent. They never even won a B10 title besides 94. According to the recruiting rankings they did better post 94 then before. Not holding my breath on those two but I guess a blind sow finds an ear of corn eventually.
Sometimes its better to man up and just say you just posted a nonsensical sentence (I don't watch that crap, when I first turned on the game last night. ) instead of trying to explain it away. No shame in that, we all do it from time to time..Meaning, that the CFP are not must see TV where I'm excited and tune in for the entire game- I might catch a few minutes. But it’s widens the gap.I mean, the playoffs will still likely include at least 2 or three of these teams: OSU, UGA, 'Bama, LSU, or Michigan. Or, maybe USC sneaks in. NIL really hasn't changed the top tier of college football that much.
If college football wants to level the playing field, then they need to reduce the number of scholarships, limit the number of coaches that you can have, allow players to enter the NFL after being 2 years removed from HS, and then put rules and regulations in place for NIL.
Will they do these things? Highly unlikely because the elite programs want to keep their advantages.
Georgia. Saban’s use by date is probably already passed.Who wins it all next year?

They could sit down and work it out if they wanted to, but do you think the big-time schools want it to be changed? NIL allows the elite schools to cherry pick guys for 1 year rentals. What *college* rule prevents players from entering the NFL?

Seriously? If the elite schools talked to the NFL about the importance of lowering it to 2 years removed because it would help with NIL problems, then it would get done. The NFL has to be slightly concerned with NIL getting out of hand as well. Don’t you think NFL teams would love to get their hands on guys like Maye, Williams, Bowers, etc. right now?Sit down with whom? What are you talking about?
Bowers and Marvin Harrison are two guys who should be able to go to the NFL after their sophomore seasons instead of having to play another season of college football. They look ready now.Seriously? Right. And the title of this thread. Yet here we are.I don't watch that crap, when I first turned on the game last night... Well, which is it?
No what I said is accurate, to "watch that crap" to me is sit down at kickoff and watch until the end. Turning it on for a few minutes isn't watching it.Sometimes its better to man up and just say you just posted a nonsensical sentence (I don't watch that crap, when I first turned on the game last night. ) instead of trying to explain it away. I gotta agree. For the most part, the rich is getting richer. There will be a few other schools that might make a good run (Cincinnati, TCU), but it’s a good gamble to keep betting on the traditional “Blue Bloods” of the NCAA.I mean, the playoffs will still likely include at least 2 or three of these teams: OSU, UGA, 'Bama, LSU, or Michigan. Or, maybe USC sneaks in. NIL really hasn't changed the top tier of college football that much.

They can easily accomplish the first two items. 3rd one is mostly up to the NFL. The 4th one they have almost no control over. The Supreme Court has implied (Kavanaugh stopped just short of explicitly saying it) that they will not look kindly on any litigation from the NCAA about player financial benefits. The NCAA would get laughed out of the court room if they tried to limit NIL. They don't have the legal authority to prevent "pay for play" and they know it.If college football wants to level the playing field, then they need to reduce the number of scholarships, limit the number of coaches that you can have, allow players to enter the NFL after being 2 years removed from HS, and then put rules and regulations in place for NIL.

So NIL contracts could mandate that the players can't opt out of any games? They don't have the legal authority to prevent "pay for play" and they know it.
