Georgia or Alabama

In general, take SEC people out of it, consider all college fans of all teams, what % really get EXCITED to see another SEC-centric playoff? Who here was really EXCITED about last night's game?

The playoffs were a Big Ten centric playoff this year.

Do you get excited to see the same few teams play every year? I think I'd get excited if there were no SEC or B1G teams some year. In general, all season long if I flip on the TV and see SEC teams, I can't stand it, I just flip the channel, except the last 3 minute of Tennessee beating Bama, Bama losing was worth watching.

One of the most frequent responses I have given to you as it relates to your ideal college football world is:

Who cares what you want? You clearly are not a fan of college football, and what you want should not be catered to.

Last night was evidence of that. You had a playoff with 3 non-SEC teams. One team was a 3* level underdog program in the national title.

And none of that was good enough for you to give a sh*t. Why? Because you aren’t actually a fan of college football.

What I want is simple, every team in D1 having a path into the playoffs JUST BY WINNING CERTAIN GAMES, like a conference championship game. With no eye tests.

Then after that, a playoff of 12 teams or more, then I'd watch some of the playoff games. If it stays the way, it is less, and less people will care to watch Bama or Georgia or tOSU play for the 10th straight year.

You're right, I'm not a fan of college football as a whole, just Pitt football, the Pitt games are the only games I watch from beginning to end. I'd rather watch the NFL for sure. And what's happening is turning off many casual fans, many stopped watching it and only watch their own school. College Football is STUPID, no structure and just too repetitive. Too many people like you begging to keep teams like Pitt out of the playoffs.

Soon it will really suck when they consolidate to 30-40 teams and Pitt won't be in it, I suppose college football lovers like yourself can adopt Bama or Georgia, maybe Clemson? But I have no interest in the Dixie Regional Football League, Hopefully Pitt will be able to compete in the FCS tournament or something, I could get obsesed with that if Pitt was in it.

If the NFL wanted to get their hands on guys like that they could. Literally, every single year. And yet they chose not to, and have for decades.

Yep. This guy thinks the NFL is punishing itself because it loves Alabama that much.

The NFL has the rule it does because the NFL has determined that rule benefits the NFL.

There’s nothing the NCAA could do about it.

Only hurts the players which is par for the course. The extra year did nothing for a guy like Jordan Addison. Just prevented him from getting to his first big payday faster. But yes, it does make a guy like Lincoln Riley happy.

I don’t know. Bama’s 2023 recruiting class seemed like a “we aren’t going anywhere” message to college football.
Recruiting isn't Bama's problem. Bama has lost their identity as a program. They no longer play with the physicality needed to dominate inferior opponents week in and week out the way UGA does. Nobody fears Alabama anymore.

I'd be willing to bet that behind closed doors Saban agrees with this assesment.

People always say, “recruiting isn’t X’s problem.”

And maybe it isn’t the sole problem. But signing seven 5* players and an average recruit ranking of almost a .95, goes a long way to fixing whatever the problem is.

Bama signs a top 3 class every year. They don't retain or develop players the way they did in the past.

Tbh, other than the process of accumulating talent, I think Saban is a little out of his comfort zone coaching in the NIL era.
