negating it by playing Collier.

These guys need to sit. Give someone else a chance.

Why the hell not?

Hugley giveth. Hugley taketh away. 2 really dumb, costly fouls this half. Just have to be smarter than that.

Ok - Capel calls timeout with 33 second left. I can’t wait to witness this beautiful offensive set Jeff calls!!!

FG 3-6 FT 3-4 3 RBs
Nothing wrong with those stats
I saw his 3 pt shot that was a desperation heave due to the shot clock so he was really 3-5 .

Thank god we got this one. Couldn't take another heartbreaker.

Do you really care at this point? I'm glad they won but I don't care much if they win or lose anymore. The season is pointless. Very few of the these guys will be on the team in the fall.

Did you watch the game on TV?

If you did, did the color man frequently single any Pitt play out for criticism?

Yep, Collier has been less than zero.

I have never seen someone so completely and utterly inept at guarding the pick and roll. I am pretty sure that they could have picked two random fans out of the crowd and given them a couple minutes to practice it and they could have scored against Collier.

So how absolutely god-awful does Max Amadasun have to be that after that display, especially in the first half, that he still didn't get in the game?

BTW, I'm not the world's biggest fan of plus/minus, but it is telling that Hugley was a +16 and Collier was a -13 while playing pretty close to the same number of minutes at center.

I wouldn't mind seeing Oladapo picking up a few more minutes at Collier's expense, albeit my impression of him is he turns the ball over too much.

We haven't looked to Dan (or even Mo) to play the five this year, but it certainly might be worth considering if Noah continues to struggle like he did tonight.

What troubles me most about Noah is that he is brutally inconsistent even within very short spans of the same play. He'll make a tough athletic rebound, then just easily turn it over. He'll make a really nice rotation on D then basically forget to guard the roll man 10 seconds later.

Hopefully he'll start to catch on with experience. These are the kinds of plays inexperienced players make. But he's got some significant improvements to make.

He stinks. I feel bad saying that but he does.

Weren’t we getting abused by that pick n roll multiple times in the 1 st half way before Collier ever entered the game??

Or maybe I’m wrong, was he our sole culprit on that from the get go??

I hear ya, but I'm still pulling for our guys to win.

I think they got Hugley once too in the first half.

The concern, I believe, with Max is mobility which might not have made much sense guarding the pick and roll. I'm wondering if Mo can get a look at the five at times.

He does have athleticism going for him--so the rest should be learnable--especially playing defense. It would be hopeless if he were an unathletic "stiff."

Plus, I believe he played the five at Stony Brook.

Not to mention the other end of the court (as the 5) drawing his man out with his ability to shoot and pass. Interesting to see who the “man in the middle” is against Cuse’s zone. Would have to think big John with his passing.

Or Gueye, why can't he play the 5 and then put Oladapo in at the 4?

I think Gueye is ill suited to playing center, especially once we start conference play. I'd prefer we just let him continue as is. But that's just me.

Also, for those saying at the 5 he can draw out the opposing center when on O, nothing says the other team has to guard him with their 5.

I look at it as the opposite, right now the other's team 4 pulls him away from the basket and his best asset on D is his shot blocking and either playing a zone with him as rim protector or guarding the 5 to keep him close to the basket I would think would be an asset to our defense.

Hugley certainly didn't play it great every time, but I'm surely not looking for perfection and he played it right far more often than he screwed it up. Collier, on the other hand, screwed it up far more often than he got it right.

When Collier was in it was two guys guarding one at the high post.... over and over and over. Ridiculous!

I just recall watching the game and after the 3rd or so time it happened, regardless of who our culprit was, thinking ok, the coach either calls a TO or at the next scheduled TO, drills into the team what to be aware of and how to defend in those situations. And then, we shouldn’t see it occur again.

I’m guessing the above happened but it didn’t sink in very well.
