D has played pretty well despite no camp and weaver , Pitt has the worst luck ever. Not to mention a oppossing kicker never misses. Picket played better after a horrible start. Mathis played well. I liked a lot of what Whipple tried. Not a lot of presnap penalties. Maybe VA is good, I got nothing else.

Agree the 14 points of off turnovers where to much to over come for this offense. Picket isn't good enough for this team to have any mistakes that aren't his.

Some of our better players let us down in this one. Hamlin got beat a few times (I think that's how you get him, by the way: Spread the field and throw right at him; he's better in the box); Mack dropped a pass; Dane Jackson provided some flashbacks to the 2016 season, when all you had to do was lob a 50/50 ball up against us; Pinnock missed Perkins when he had him in his grasp (turned a would-be sack into a huge third-down conversion); Kessman missed a field goal.

Mathis redeemed himself after a while, but he also got completely spun around in coverage twice. I really don't think Virginia is that good: Perkins' throwing still doesn't impress me, and I think they'll struggle in the trenches.

He completed 3 or 4 of the worst passes I’ve ever seen that I can’t believe anyone with half a brain would’ve ever considered throwing. The worst was a pass he lobbed up in the air right into double coverage and Hamlin I believe it was just missed the ball.

Hamlin is great in the box. Unfortunately, he seems to be neutralized quite a bit if you spread the field and make him cover the pass.

Yeah sounds like an odd thing to say about a kid who came in as a cornerback but it’s looking to be true after what we saw last tonight. Disappointing performance from probably our best player.

Speaking of our safeties, noticed Ford make a few tackles but nothing else really. He came off the field for many (maybe even all) 3rd down situations even when there were extra DBs on the field. I’m wondering if the staff feels at this point he’s not reliable in pass coverage?
