I watched the go-go go nowhere against Kansas in the bowl game. Why would he leave? $750K or so is about his value. You want him to play for 50K or whatever UNLV will pay him. Bad missed opportunity here. Could have hired Marion and gotten Maiava. Instead its 5-7 with Nate Yarnell

why wouldn't all these other schools jump at such a bargain? Why would he leave? $750K or so is about his value. You want him to play for 50K or whatever UNLV will pay him. Bad missed opportunity here. Could have hired Marion and gotten Maiava. Instead its 5-7 with Nate Yarnell

https://footballscoop.com/news/fbs-offensive-coordinator-tracker-2023-24There haven't been many P4 OC openings
Maiava will be a big loss, especially since he had just announced he’d be staying after the bowl game. Rumor is that one team in particular still reached out after that and made him a big offer and he will be transferring there within a week or so. No idea if it’s true or not, he’s a good qb but not one I thought would be getting a big money deal.

Kid has to cash in if he can. Silly not to.He was arguably the best FR QB in the country this year. That isn’t always saying much as to how good you actually are, since so few FR play.
But still. You aren’t going to be one of the top FR at the premier position in football, and not get a big payday from it.
How in the world do you know that it will be 5-7 with Nate Yarnell??? The reality of it is, you don't know. The number of players entering the transfer portal seems to increase on a daily basis. I do believe that there are two deadlines for players to enter into the portal, one ending around the start of the year and the other ending sometime in April. That being said, how can any one make an accurate prediction on how good or bad a team will be in the fall? Come on SMF, you are better then that! Why would he leave? $750K or so is about his value. You mean the offense that scored on 6 drives and put up more points against Kansas than 10 of their other 12 opponents?I watched the go-go go nowhere against Kansas in the bowl game.
Took the L because they turned the ball overYou mean the offense that scored on 6 drives and put up more points against Kansas than 10 of their other 12 opponents?
They had 2 turnovers and were actually +1 in turnover margin. They took the L because their defense gave up 591 yards at nearly 9 yards per play and allowed drives of 98 and 99 yards.Took the L because they turned the ball over
Steelers are reportedly interested 😂Marion is still at UNLV? He actually wasn't a serious candidate at Oklahoma, Arkansas, PSU, or Notre Dame?
Interesting.
Those 2 turnovers led to 14 pts if I'm not mistakenThey had 2 turnovers and were actually +1 in turnover margin. They took the L because their defense gave up 591 yards at nearly 9 yards per play and allowed drives of 98 and 99 yards.
Only 1 of those interceptions led to a score, and they turned it over on the opponent's 35.Those 2 turnovers led to 14 pts if I'm not mistaken
Bro, if more Head Coaches and ADs fought for marion as hard as you do, maybe they would retain his services beyond one year.We get it, he reminded people that central Pennsyltucky might be a bit racist and you took it personally. I know that all of us that grew up and played sports in this state know that is absurd and never ever heard anything like that, certainly never on the football field. But come on, at least make respectable arguments, there are plenty of examples.
I just get confused because sometimes, 45th is bad and sometimes it’s not. I guess it’s a matter of context compared to the hype we were fed by a particular member (not you).UNLV finished with the 45th ranked offense this year according to F+.
Can it not be as simple as he did a damn good job this year, lets see what he does next year?
Incorrect. You should get a better source for info.Rumor is Jurkovec got 200K so there's that.

Skewed because they played Michigan and they dont have the talent to move the ball on that defense

I get it. I'd note that most of the big stats were put up against similar levels of competition. Plenty of examples of that but I'm not saying that to detract from what was accomplished. The point is that there was a lot of hyperbole over the OC (by one particular moron) because, you know, Pitt.45th for UNLV is pretty damn good considering their recruiting class.
It’s also ahead of where the analytics projected them to finish pre-season.
Meaning it would be one thing if he took over the offense and did exactly what the computers projected them to do based on everything they returned. Then you could argue, “hell, he didn’t do anything more than what the MIT nerds thought the previous OC would do.”
But they outperformed that. Meaning you almost have to give him credit.
Marion is a shameless self-promoter.
A self-promoter in college football???? BAN HIM!
Telling recruits you're going to be OC when you're not, and whining about it on social media isn't exactly adult behavior.
