Go-Go-gone!!

Why would he leave? $750K or so is about his value. You want him to play for 50K or whatever UNLV will pay him. Bad missed opportunity here. Could have hired Marion and gotten Maiava. Instead its 5-7 with Nate Yarnell

Not sure that's a good reason to hire and OC unless the QB is great and lock transfer.

Maiava will be a big loss, especially since he had just announced he’d be staying after the bowl game. Rumor is that one team in particular still reached out after that and made him a big offer and he will be transferring there within a week or so. No idea if it’s true or not, he’s a good qb but not one I thought would be getting a big money deal.

QBs get paid. I think he's worth $750K. At least 500K. Rumor is Jurkovec got 200K so there's that.

He was arguably the best FR QB in the country this year. That isn’t always saying much as to how good you actually are, since so few FR play.

But still. You aren’t going to be one of the top FR at the premier position in football, and not get a big payday from it.

How in the world do you know that it will be 5-7 with Nate Yarnell??? The reality of it is, you don't know. The number of players entering the transfer portal seems to increase on a daily basis. I do believe that there are two deadlines for players to enter into the portal, one ending around the start of the year and the other ending sometime in April. That being said, how can any one make an accurate prediction on how good or bad a team will be in the fall? Come on SMF, you are better then that!

SMF can’t comprehend that Marion jumps at every opportunity every year but thinks he would be a long term guy at Pitt. Best to just let him say what he has to say and just pass it off.

Because we dont have any talent. Have you watched us play? Yarnell may be slightly better than Veilleux but that isnt saying a lot. 6-6 at best

Took the L because they turned the ball over
They had 2 turnovers and were actually +1 in turnover margin. They took the L because their defense gave up 591 yards at nearly 9 yards per play and allowed drives of 98 and 99 yards.

Those 2 turnovers led to 14 pts if I'm not mistaken
Only 1 of those interceptions led to a score, and they turned it over on the opponent's 35.

Only the ultimate axe grinder could look at a game where a team put up 36 points (10 more than their opponents average allowed) and claim that the offense was the issue and not the defense that gave up 49 points, nearly 600 yards of offense, and 6x 60+ yard touchdown drives.

We get it, he reminded people that central Pennsyltucky might be a bit racist and you took it personally. I know that all of us that grew up and played sports in this state know that is absurd and never ever heard anything like that, certainly never on the football field. But come on, at least make respectable arguments, there are plenty of examples.

Bro, if more Head Coaches and ADs fought for marion as hard as you do, maybe they would retain his services beyond one year.

In terms of the racist allegations that he later redacted, I could care less. My issue with him has to do with class and character.

UNLV finished with the 45th ranked offense this year according to F+.

Can it not be as simple as he did a damn good job this year, lets see what he does next year?

I just get confused because sometimes, 45th is bad and sometimes it’s not. I guess it’s a matter of context compared to the hype we were fed by a particular member (not you).

Skewed because they played Michigan and they dont have the talent to move the ball on that defense

No, F+ accounts for the quality of teams you played.

It adjusts for things like quality, pace of play, opportunities and field position given to you by your defense, garbage time when you pull your starters and just run the ball to bleed the clock, etc.

45th for UNLV is pretty damn good considering their recruiting class.

It’s also ahead of where the analytics projected them to finish pre-season.

Meaning it would be one thing if he took over the offense and did exactly what the computers projected them to do based on everything they returned. Then you could argue, “hell, he didn’t do anything more than what the MIT nerds thought the previous OC would do.”

But they outperformed that. Meaning you almost have to give him credit.

I get it. I'd note that most of the big stats were put up against similar levels of competition. Plenty of examples of that but I'm not saying that to detract from what was accomplished. The point is that there was a lot of hyperbole over the OC (by one particular moron) because, you know, Pitt.

Marion is a shameless self-promoter. It's obvious given the timing of the hires, and who was hired, that Marion was never a serious candidate for the OC positions at OU or Arkansas.

Telling recruits you're going to be OC when you're not, and whining about it on social media isn't exactly adult behavior.

Neither is signed a TV contract and then suing to get out of it on a technicality. This is college football. Anything goes.
