I agree. I also think this girl needs to listen to authority. Not obeying a teacher, administrator and cop in one sitting is not a good way to start life. But she didn't deserve a beating.
If she absolutely refused to leave the room and was causing a disruption, do you think "some" physical restraint would be appropriate, or could she just hold the class "hostage" the rest of the day?
i did the job of that guy once in a younger phase of my life (sort of - wasn't a cop but responsible for those types of kids). it's just a ridiculous tactic. it's a tired, frustrated man with poor training. you'd never do that.

But I will issue my usual cautionary "let it play out" before rendering final judgment.
How many times have similar situations been misunderstood because something was missed in the particular viewpoint of the video? What if that view missed that the girl had a gun, for example? That isn't true here, apparently, but it could be.
You've already shown your willingness to be presumptive in other posts, so it doesn't surprise me that you want to condemn someone based solely on a video.
the student sounds like a real winner.. Teacher cant kick a student out of the class so they need a watered down cop to get her out, she refuses, this is what happens.. Of course now a lawsuit is coming so cameras in all classrooms from now on.. This problem wouldn't exist if mommy and daddy acted like parents instead of letting kids act like azzholes..

LOL, for some reason, I doubt that Ben Carson needed to be escorted out of a classroom due to behavior.. The reason schools need cops on site is because students like this.. Like I said, someone that should have been "aborted" soon after conception.. Don't worry libs, this girl will be compensated for her thuggish behavior, used by tax dollars of working people, and she will learn no lesson and continue to act in this manner, get knocked up of course and her kid will be the same.. So you think the officer used an appropriate amount of force? And what exactly makes this girl a "thug," beyond being uncooperative in class?
I think the officer could have handled it a tad lighter in all honesty.. It was pretty funny though..you need to separate this garbage from the classroom, although maybe a little more civil..

you are right, let's build a time machine and go back and kick him out of class. Im with you dop. they both should be reprimanded but I already know how this is gonna end.. All charges against miss thug will be dropped, an out of court settlement will be headed her way, I mean she has rug burn so that's at least worth 40k, and no lesson will be learned.. If anything, this has taught the students that they can literally get away with murder.. I feel bad for any teacher or administer in that school, talk about being powerless, they honestly can not do anything AT ALL... Not a good situation here at all.

How in the world did this get turned into a Ben Carson thread.. You want to give single black moms MORE money? Dear lord, how much more? We are already paying for their abortions, food, rent, cell phones, jobs they would be unqualified for if it weren't for the color of their skin.. What else can we give them?
I said all single moms. Single black moms are a small percentage of welfare recipients, but look how much good it does. Without welfare, Donald Trump would have no competition to the 2016 Republican presidential bid!

I'll ask again: what did she do to justify you calling her a thug? Beyond apparently being black.
what's racist about Shaniqua?? Her behavior described by others, repeated disruptions and needing a cop to remove her from the classroom.. I've seen a lot of disruptive behavior in classrooms, have yet to see one that justified having a cop having to intervene.. Somehow poor people survived without these welfare benefits before the 1960s. I don't know how because DOP clearly shows how impossible that is, but I can't remember ever reading about the heaps of dead poor lining the streets pre-New Society or pre-New Deal because there weren't massive government welfare programs.
Maybe DOP doesn't know the greatest reduction in the welfare rolls was thanks to the reform in the 1990s where Clinton and the GOP compromised and forced many people on welfare to actually go get a job instead of sitting on welfare indefinitely.
This cop clearly used excessive force as police training these days is basically "give a command in an aggressive tone with an aggressive physical manner then immediately use overwhelming physical force if the subject is not compliant, regardless of circumstances or the nature of the command."
The explosion of single-parent "families" is the worst thing that has happened to this country in the last 50 years. Half of all families have mom there and no dad to be seen. A third of those families are in poverty. This is an incredible change from basically all of human history and it is clearly not working at all.
As an aside I was at my neighbors about a half hour ago and the View was on the TV for some reason and they were discussing this incident, wow I've never seen a more ignorant and racist bunch of fools. One was saying white people deal with cops but don't have to be afraid (Ummm, 2x as many whites are killed by police as blacks every year, more Hispanics get killed by police than blacks also), another one said with no evidence that this cop is racist, another one said that police have to just accept black people not listening to them and defying them because, another one (black) said black people have fought so hard so "we" could be on the View (I didn't see any poor black people there, I saw her and another rich black woman in the entertainment industry at the table), it really made me realize how stupid this country has become.

I never once thought "Man, those disruptive kids sure are thugs."
That they're violent people with no regard for others and no character except bad. That is what the word thug means. No matter how hard people try, they aren't turning it into a synonym for the n-word.

I went to school in the south hills too.. Never once have I seen a student be so completely confrontational to a teacher that they needed a cop to come in and remove them from the classroom.. Where did you go to school, sounds horrible if you saw stuff way more disruptive than this?

The student is being charged as she should. She initiated the encounter.
The cop was fired as he should be. He went too far.
As an alleged attorney, don't you believe in the "innocent until proven guilty" tenet? I do. I always prefer to see the whole story before reaching a final conclusion. As my original post stated, the situation appeared to be overdone, but it should play out before deciding. Guessing of the guilt at the time of the initial video was just a prejudiced guess. That it was ultimately proven true doesn't make it less prejudiced nor less of a guess.
Is there an extra video out there where she throws something at the teacher? Or screams? Or actually does something disruptive? I'm still trying to figure out what the thuggish behavior is here.
no video, multiple reports from students, confirmed by teacher and another administrator.. It's all over the net my man, check it out, this internet thing is a pretty cool tool.

Allegedly she was on her phone in class, teacher told her to leave the class (I guess go to principal's office?) she refused, things went from there.
I don't think that's what the word "beating" means... if it is then every episode of COPS averages about 2 beatings at least.
The tossing her on the ground so violently I'd say that's the start of a beating at least. But then there wasn't any more. Dragging her across the floor isn't a beating. It just isn't. He didn't kick her or punch her or knee her or repeatedly slam her against something. He slammed her once which was more than bad enough.
