it's amazing the consolidation of talent amongst a handful of schools. there was always some of this but nowhere near this level that we've seen the past 5-ish years. plenty of top players would just go to their local schools. texas kids got split up amongst the old SW conference + oklahoma.
it wasn't that long ago, either. i don't see how this is good for college football. there are around 10 schools that will EVER have a chance to go to the playoff. maybe over 10 years there's one statistical outlier; but for the most part, 110-ish teams have zero realistic chance.
and for the most part, all of the other teams know they're going to get trounced any time they play one of those top schools.
kind of sad to see. i miss the days of weirdo schools coming out of nowhere to have strong seasons. those days are gone, probably forever.
