Gold Lot 3?-gonzo

If tailgating ever becomes illegal, I'll never go to another game. I only go for the party. If I just want to see the game, I watch on TV.
you will be missed....I mean that wholeheartedly.

i used to go to steeler games all time in high school, college, mid 20's, just go at insane hours (three rivers stadium lots used to be first come-first serve) then go to games but you are right, the games themselves weren't nearly as fun. I got to the point when I was living in mt. Washington where id go to Heinz, tailgate, enjoy the hell out of that, then go home to watch the game. after game, id go back out to the bars, It truly was the best of all three worlds.

regarding pirate games, im annoyed they no longer close the clemente bridge and federal street before games. they did that for the last few years, really made the area in front of PNC cool pre game. bands, stages, people standing outside the bars, having beers right there. I was told by a cop that the bridge closure (andy Warhol) bridge is the problem, you cant close both bridges.. hope once they fix that eyesore, if that ever happens, that they go back to closing federal street for bucco games..

back to OP, that's BS. that's a sweet lot. another cookie-cutter office building.. north shore sucks. dime-a-dozen chain restaurant/bars surrounded by eyesore garages with the cookie-cutter office buildings. great.. at least peduto will have more tax generated revenue for bike lanes..

some german software company wants an ugly ass riverfront office building, you cant build that crap down past south side or on the hazelwood side? plenty of river front property there. you got about 3 miles of riverfront property in hazelwood, the uber test track isn't that big..

My understanding was that Clemente is not closed this year due to construction on the alternate routes around it and will return to being a pedestrian walkway in future years.

yeah, I work down here and was talking to a cop. they actually close Isabella st. for pirate games (side street that runs perpendicular) but not federal. He told me that the pirates request a lease from city to block it pre games but didnt' this year due mainly to Warhol bridge being shut down.

I just really liked the environment outside of pnc with the clemente bridge and federal blocked off. I'd leave work and game day, people would be out, music playing, etc.. now you got cars driving by on federal while people are drinking on the sidewalks and it's annoying. plus the chicks at the beer tubs with the undersized shirts who were blessed with a full rack, well, well, hmm. I don't have any real point on them, I just like them..

yeah, and the thing that gets me is that none of those restaurants/bars are able to handle a crowd. It's near impossible to get a table and order food unless you get there 4 hours before a game. But that is the Rooney/city vision to eliminate the sea of concrete that was at 3 rivers stadium when all the promised development led to only one gas station being built.

yeah, you'd think these restaurants know game time, when their "peak time" will be and staff accordingly. a lot of people will come 1-2 hours before kickoff and a lot of people will come 30 minutes after game is over. it shouldn't exactly be a surprise.. these schedules come out pretty early.

right, exactly. there are only a limited amount of big events (not counting the Pirates) you would think they could plan accordingly. But they all run around like chickens with their heads cut off.

This stuff may start to backfire on them. Steeler fans are super loyal, but that may start to break a little if the tailgating is phased out. People aren't going to want to pay for $16 "gourmet" burgers, $8 drafts and $30 parking when they have 70 inch HDTV's in the comfort of their homes.

You're right about staffing. Grille 36 has 2 bartenders on no matter when you go in there. Tuesday night with nothing happening? 2 bartenders. Sunday morning before the AFC Championship game? 2 bartenders.:mad:

Yep. this is an extremely fine balance that has to be considered. There absolutely is a tipping point.

No one wants to watch that trash playing in pnc anyhow...close the bridge...give me a break,

2 can be as sad as 1 it's the loneliest number since the number 1 oh.
Walked out of tilted kilt last year. Kilts were nice but throat was parched.
