And Pitt did not get a single vote. Can't use the argument that teams jumped them because they didn't play. Oklahoma didn't play and remained steady at #8.

Apparently some people watched and dropped them, but gave Pitt no credit

Really SAD that we we are not even in the 'also getting votes' list.

Right now the program isn't anywhere's near what it used to be. Used to be top 25 almost all the time and oftentimes top 10.

Time for Dixon to turn things around.

They also dropped from #11 to #17 on Sagarin's computer rating while Pitt held at #50. Both the Zags and Pitt dropped about 1/2 a point numerically. I credit those change to adjustments due to teams that actually played moving the numbers for all teams.

Hope to see Corey Manigault play a game or two this HighbSchool season. When I do, I will share what I think.

Time to stop bitching about last year and see what this squad looks like this year.

I'm confused as to why you think playing Gonzaga tight for 20 minutes should get us votes, and equally comfused why someone liked the post.

The argument is not that we should have gotten votes, but that if Gonzaga drops for it, we should be recognized for it. If Oklahoma was not affected by not playing a game, Gonzaga should have been unaffected. Clearly they were affected by the game in the minds of voters, but Pitt wasn't. Quid pro quo

How does a team get recognized without getting votes? Hey, I recognize you, you're Pitt! I have no idea what is being suggested, a trophy perhaps?

We have no idea why Gonzaga went down slightly, but at this early point in the season, who the heck even cares. That was why I found the comments goofy in the first place. A ton of new players, coming off a weak season, we play a good team tough for awhile, and we are somehow shocked we didn't receive even 1 "other" vote. What if we had? Whoop de freaking do. We're 0-0, lets actually do something tangible before worrying about going up or down in polls. Who knows, maybe we did move up from 60 to 47. Does it matter at all, on the bubble already?

Pitt outplayed the number 9 team in the country for the 1st half. For them to not receive 1 vote by anyone says more about the falloff of Pitt's program in recent years than anything.

How do you know we weren't? How do you know there weren't voters who thought that Pitt was around the 50th best team in the country, but now they think they might be the 30th best? That still wouldn't be enough to get a vote, but it would be a sign that we got some sort of "recognition".

Unless you know where every voter thought we were before hand and where every voter thinks we are now the fact is that you have no idea if anyone "recognized" Pitt or not.

It's a disgrace I tells ya, a disgrace!

In case it is not OBVIOUS... it ain't just last year it is the last FOUR years. Hasn't been up to the level we used to be at.

But, like I said, time for Dixon to turn things around.
That is NOT RIGHT. 2 bad years, one OK, one good. You aren't entitled to anything. But you will see this year that doubting Dixon is foolish.

2 bad years by Dixon's standards. They would be considered mediocre by the average program.

Week 1 polls in college basketball are about as useful as week 1 polls in college football which are as relevant as week 1 college football playoff rankings which is as useful as a recipe for a dessert made with pickled beets. Pitt learned a little bit about its roster against a "ranked" opponent on a neutral (and very poor) site. There were encouraging signs in 20 minutes. Were they sustainable encouraging signs? Not enough sample size to say for sure.
