Goodbye Mustapha...

Anyone actually believe he was going to end up here? When Slice left, it was only a matter of time. But yes, Slice is "no factor" according to some on here and Bill Barton is just as good of an assistant. Why? Because Jamie keeps him so he must be.

But it is okay......we have......well then......Plan B....Plan C, .........do we still have Tyrone Haughton's number?

Dixon and company keep this up, WE WILL...be PSU in basketball in 2 years.

Ahhhh, what could have been.

Not that it was some brash prediction, but I said Heron was gone the day Slice left and I'm really surprised he stayed "committed" this long. He stayed committed so long that I honestly started thinking we'd keep him.

No Heron, no Rowan, no Diallo (though he never committed). This almost reminds me of Walt Harris's legendary decommitment debacle when he lost Andrew Johnson, Anthony Johnson, Johnny Peyton, that Wake Forest CB, and James Bryant (though he never committed).

I'm starting to hope that Boise State AD who headed up the UK bball program gets the AD job. My first conversation with Jamie would go like this:

"Go out and get the best recruiter in the country. We'll pay whatever. Just go do it."

A program like Pitt has to overcompensate their assistants to make up for Jamie's lack of recruiting salesmanship.

I heard Pat Chambers at Penn State is laughing at our recruiting failures. He has a highly ranked class coming in.

All we heard from the Jamie guardians was how good our 2016-2017...

recruiting classes would be. Top targets Diallo, Swanigan, Rowan, Spellman & Heron have all decided Pitt isn't it. Jamie's recruiting has officially hit rock bottom. All is not well a Panther fans.

Never thought I would say this, but I am seriously beginning to question Dixon's ability to right the ship. I'm always one to stand by Jamie, but this is just sad. There have been no "wins" or "good news" for the program in the past few years. And don't tell me that LP winning ACC player of the week a few times proves otherwise.

Why not just say that?
Because nobody thinks it. He gets at least 2 more years and probably 3. People are just frustrated and rightfully so. We've gone from Willard to #1 seeds back to Willard.

I wouldn't say nobody. There have been plenty of people who either have hoped he got fired or left for another job. And it's not recent either.

So..it's just anonymous whining..nothing actionable??

Why are you frustrated that a kid, who won't be on the roster next year...may not be on the roster the following year?

SEriously.... are you going to stop watching Pitt hoops now?

Then, why the anguish? My life is unaltered.

I don't. But check back in a couple of years..................

Hated Jamie's extension then and hate it more today. I don't question his ability to coach, but how many more punches to the nuts can this program withstand? Next year looks like it going to be a lot like this year and I am not optimistic about the following year. Just being honest.

Seven years in the doldrums will be enough for me and I know I will have a lot of company.

Before others pile on, I want Jamie to succeed. I really do. But right now, it's getting harder for me to see him pull it off.

SO4L- I think thats the problem for many posters. Its not like we are ever going to stop watching because, well, we just can't. And now we know how disappointing the basketball product we are addicted to will be for the foreseeable future.

No. The onus is on you to give us something actionable to fix recruiting.

And stop pretending Pitt news doesn't affect your life. You spend most of your life on this message board. You're not fooling anybody.

Re: I don't. But check back in a couple of years..................

Im sure a lot of people aren't thrilled with the extension and not even necessarily in hindsight. But that seems to be how it's played now. Had they not extended him when they did there's a good chance (and by a lot of accounts highly likely) he'd have gone to USC. So if it's a coach you believe in I guess that's what has to be done.

Because I like Pitt hoops more than most Pitt fans and more than I really should. Such is life for a diehard fan. Believe me, I wished I was a Duke basketball fan or an Ohio State football fan but I love Pitt and stuff like this gets to me. You're not as big a fan as I am but that's a good thing. I wished I wasn't as big a fan.

Fans get invested emotionally if their team does well or if their team does poorly. It is what WE ALL do. For fans of a certain team, while entertainment, it is not just like going to the movies, where you watch unattached and you maybe moved by a performance but at the end, you have no attachment or emotions to the final outcome. Now....as a casual fan, say tonight I am going to watch the Ottawa/Montreal playoff hockey game. It is pure entertainment to me. I have no investment in it whatsoever but time. I could care less the outcome. But...tomorrow night, the Pens play and my emotional investment is there. I am happy if the Pens win, sad and pissed if they lose. My life is unaltered in either event, but the fact is, if you are a sport fan, and a fan of a particular team, then their is anguish.

Sorry, if you have no emotional investment, then you are not really a fan at all. So you are obviously not a fan of Pitt basketball because you continue to talk about how your life is unaffected by this, and why are people pissed at things not going well. And you will admit at least they are not going well? Why hang out here? Why even converse? You have 38,500 posts on this site. It is obvious you do care about the outcomes, because no one would spend so much time and energy on something they don't care about. Let's stop being dishonest when you take this position as some form of superiority to those who are "anguished" okay? Because it obviously is not true.

Thanks gee ....

Please tell me what I've said to earn that remark?

Souf is a huge fan of Pitt. Of this I have no doubt. Souf just has a harder time dealing with disappointment. It's true of a lot of fans.

Some of us can talk about it. But Souf and others are in denial about their disappointment, and the negative posts dredge up the feelings they'd rather keep suppressed. Instead of processing those feelings, they allow it to make them angry at the rest of us for dredging.

I don't..because I'm a grown up.

I have plenty of things to get emotional about in real life... not about the entertainment.

If I get bored watching Pitt, or any sports team..I do something else.

And I'm clearly here for the conversation..and pointing out what a bunch of whiny weak-willed myopic douches are.

Frankly owt- I've pointed this out numerous times... you, and plenty of others.. WANT BAD THINGS TO HAPPEN.
Because, you want to feel like you're smart for predicting it.

Which I find a completely baffling mentality..but, it's classic yinzerdom.
The perpetual negativity is why people are so intolerable- and ironically..feel THEY are entitled for better results, which is circular bit of nonsense.

If a junior deciding not to stay committed to Pitt makes you emotional...you need to find something else to live for.

If you want something to change..vote with your wallets and stop supporting the team.

IF you don't..well... then, celebrating bad news is a strange way of acting.

It woils seem to me that Souf actually has an easier time dealing with disappointment than most.

I have no problem talking about bad news.

I simply don't dwell /celebrate it.

What does airing the dirty laundry accomplish if you don't want a coaching change?

Either you want something ACTIONABLE to change with our coach..or you don't.

I'll watch and cheer regardless of who the coach or players are...and will hope for the best, either way.
And if I am not entertained..I'll stop watching.

Pretty simple concept. Some of you WANT TO BE miserable, and are succeeding in spades.

I just have plenty of perspective..

I'd love for Pitt to win the national championship every year. But, with that...like the opposite...things don't change for me, either way.

I'll enjoy watching the games more...that's about it.

Find something else to do with your time, something more meaningful than watching sports, is my advice to you.

You're bored...don't mistake that for "fandom".

I have no problem with having that opinion.

Sometimes a coach's shelf-life expires.

Killing Time at work..since I've wrapped up the projects I've been working on, and just put out 3 fires while I've been logged on to this thread.

And to be honest- I like putting people like through the paces to watch your reaction. It's a great social experiment.

I understand what is entertainment, and that to me is entertaining.

This forum is entertainment.
If it stops entertaining me..I won't cry about it, i'll stop visiting it.

What are YOU getting out of all of this?
