I would pass on Smith. I like our strategy of recruiting other areas of the country namely Georgia Virginia Florida and getting some of the top players in Pittsburgh each year. Our starting defensive line in two years maybe entirely Pittsburgh based

I think you bring up a valid point. I don’t watch much PS football, but I am intrigued by Porter Jr’s potential. I wasn’t impressed by Brisker or Wade in the games I saw. If Smith could bring Porter Jr. with him and improve recruiting locally, then I’d be for bringing him onto the staff in some capacity. Miles Sanders sure would have been nice to have.

I don't get the scoffing that so called Pitt fans continue to dole out towards Wannstedt and company.

If so called Pitt fans are dissatisfied with a 9-1 record heading into Thanksgiving, with a top 10 ranking and a team that finished with 10 wins that is your problem. Don't blame me for the praise and even reverance.

I cherish the 2009 season, it was a blast for me. Take a step back and realize that this Pitt football program has not come close to that type of season since.

Btw, when DW arrived his mission was to upgrade the running game and defensive line and he clearly accomplished that goal.

Its conceivable Smith ends up at Michigan.

If he is available, he would have far better opportunities and I think Smith is smart enough to know selling pitt at HF is a far tougher job than selling the big house.

A few things to consider that none of us know the answer to.

1) Where does Smith want to live? His family is obviously in the Pittsburgh area.
2) If Harbaugh is about to get fired, then why go there? Narduzzi has more stability here compared to him.
3) The whole packed stadium selling point lost a lot steam recently. It will arise again, but not right now.

Major point. He’s recruiting to a pretty nice campus with a rabid fan base. This appeals to many highschoolers especially kids who know they want to get away but not that far away.

Sure PSU has more to sell but Franklin is landing OSU-level classes with Terry Smith playing a major role. Of course Pitt cant recruit at that level no matter who is coaching but all I'm asking is to recruit at the Wanny level. Wanny had Gattuso recruiting locally. Plus Hafley out east. Really a great recruiting staff all-around. Who would you say are Pitt's big recruiters on this staff? There, that's the problem. Smith would help immensely. Local means something.

1) PSU is not landing OSU type classes.
2) Partridge, Beatty, and Collins are good recruiters. We do need a few more.
