He checks all the boxes for what they need right now.

With that said, no Mid-Major hire is "Elite". I don't think we can consider WVU, even with their NIL strength, able to attract "elite".

I think WVU stupidly spent all their NIL on Kriisa, Battle, and Edwards last year. They probably had a Top 20 payroll last year but those guys only played a couple games together. When Huggy left, they should have rescinded those contracts and went all in for the new coach. They got a top portal player in Devries for free and then only brought in 1 other legit guy in Small from OK St. Sencire Harris, who I was going back and forth with with that WVU fan is Isaiah Epps reincarnated. Illinois redshirted him for the sole reason that he wasn't going to be in their rotation. Terrible player. And they dont have much else. I'm afraid they go 2-16 in the Big 12. And I actually do like Devries as a HC but they need to buy better players. He has a mid-major team.
