They're good. They led UNC on the road with 5 minutes left. IMO, they are better than Syracuse......but I dont think Syr is all that good.
GT has a really good "Big 3" of Marcus Georges-Hunt, Adam Smith, and Charles Mitchell. Mitchell is a rebounding monster and probably the best rebounder in the ACC. He's a load and we probably wont manage many offensive rebounds so we'll have to shoot well.
You may remember Adam Smith (aka The Invisible Hand, get it?) from last year's VT debacle. He dropped 26 on us including the buzzer beating 3 from 30 to send it to OT and then grad transferred. He's averaging 13 and 45% from 3. He and MGH make up one of the best wing combos in the nation. MGH is an NBA level wing and Smith is an elite shooter. Both can get very hot but both are streaky. They are easily the best wings we've faced.
They have a Jacobs kid that averages 9 that I dont know a lot about but they dont seem very deep. They have to get big games from Smith and MGH to beat us. Unless one completely goes off, I think both have to be on their game. They will be difficult matchups and I hope we are ready in what may be a dead atmosphere and dead Wednesday night student section. This team seems to sleepwalk a bit when the place isnt amped up and if we dont play well on Wednesday, we will lose.
