Hamlin got the business there, for sure. He was trying to make sure that guy didn’t gain one more inch so he did what was necessary — and gets flagged “after the play was over.” Huh?

That play was not only legal, it is exactly what a corner should do in the open field, complete the tackle and get the receiver to the ground. If this is illegal, they should just change the rules to flag football. There is hardly any risk of injury. Wrestlers do this all the time. Worst call I have seen since the targeting penalty was born.

Not sure how they interpret the rule in college, but have seen that play multiple times in the NFL this year and it’s always a penalty.

DeAndre Hopkins body slamming a defender after an int was probably the most notable example.

It was definitely written into the rules in the NFL within the last decade. Lamar Woodley used to do it when it was legal. Not sure how the college rule actually reads, but I am definitely assuming it’s a penalty
