Has a Clairton player ever gone to Penn St?

trying to remember[/QU

If not,I can imagine Franklin using it to his advantage...."you can break the ice, and be the first from Clairton here." He could even bring in race by saying..."look at me, an African American coach here in Central Pa, don't believe the rumors about this area".... Just IMO.
Now with that said, I'd like to see Wade keep that Clairton pipeline to Pitt continue with his verbal.

Last year regarding miles sanders from Woodland Hills. There wasn't anyone who went to Psu from Woodland Hills and he still went to Psu. So this may be 2 years in a row where a PITT friendly high school sees and potential recruit go to Psu. That's not good

tool...
do you know why sanders went to peddstate ....
if you remember... his relationship was with the OC that left...

how do you consider players from other states that come to PITT..

I think WPIAL kids from predominantly minority schools (Clairton, Quips etc) avoid psu due to lack of social opportunities in Centre County. Another big factor is that, even though the situation has improved somewhat, RACISM remains prevalent at psu and surrounding communities. Psu tries to paint psu as a diverse school but over 98% of them are white dudes with vey antiquated views on racial relations. The old adage that Pennsylvania is composed of Philadelphia and Pittsburgh--with Alabama in between--remains true to this day.

As the old riddle goes:

Question: "On Penn State's campus, what's the most commonly asked question when meeting a person-of-color?"

Answer: "....and what sport do you play?"

Not true. Brian Burgoyne went to Ped St from Woodland Hills.

main campus ups has a lower % of black students than most major universities.
Don't know about the inclusion of all the branch davidians, into that equaltion.

See below. This psu clown argues that psu has more minority students than white students???? Just as they make up their own reality regarding Paterno's orchestrated cover-up of Sandusky's rapes they now argue that psu is a predominantly African American school. LOL
VT005 response to allegation concerning psu racism:
"Very quality post, clearly supported by facts. Despite PSU lack of diversity, it has a higher percentage of black students and lower percentage of white students. Take a look at your own university's demographics some time."

But centre country has over 97% white population, whereas Allegheny County has something like 14% black or African American population.

Now they have 2 in the last 15 years. It's really not a big deal. For different reasons, it would be somewhat surprising if either Sanders or Wade move the needle in college.

For Pitt, getting either or both is more about perception than results they will bring.

One player in about 30 years!!! Bottom line is Woodland Hills is a Pitt pipeline clearly

C'mon guys, let's not make this about race. Wade (and his dad) like PSU, Franklin, and the idea of playing in the B10. It's frustrating because we had built up a fence around Woody High and Clairton for a number of years while Paterno refused to leave State College.

Franklin has shown the ability to rehash some of those relationships and get kids from schools PSU normally wouldn't. Narduzzi has to find a way to keep those fences up and keep out the coaches trying to pry away WPIAL kids. It was just a tough year for Duz in the WPIAL - nothing more, nothing less. He'll be back at it next year with Raines. It just kind of sucks to strike out this year with so much elite talent in the WPIAL '17 class.

I can't think of any. There was a Clairton girl bb player, Gissendanner? who went to ncst then transferred there.

I get what you're saying. Having said that, do you really think that Franklin and Terry Smith don't use race when recruiting black players/families?

Agree with sappy but all was not lost, Paris Ford is in the fold and he could be the most important recruit from the WPIAL or for that matter the state of Pa. in 2917.

Lack of social opportunities. I've never heard a Klan haven described quite that way.

Do you really think a black coach needs to "use race" to his advantage when he's recruiting a black player?

Gimme a break.

Carl Bendik Clairton Grad who played center for Rip Engle back in the late 70's and early 60's. Spoke with him at the Quip game this season. Great fellow.
