I want to point out how big that interception was by Hamlin in the first quarter. Even though Pitt didn't score on the ensuing drive, it was both a really nice play and one that settled the defense down early and helped them slowly take control.
He also was the guy who should get a LOT of credit for limiting #3 to (I think) his second lowest receiving yardage total on the season.
Hamlin is the field safety meaning he's almost always covering a slot WR to the wide side of the field and, for my money, has the toughest job on the defense. Yes, plays will be made when you're given that much responsibility but I find myself looking at Hamlin almost every game and thinking that he's maturing and becoming one of those guys on the back end that a Narduzzi defense is known for.
He's played very very well making an impact in the run game and the big plays in the middle of the field have really decreased over the last month and a half.
His pick today just makes it a little easier to point all of this out.
