Plain and simple, we got a huge break when HCJC was hired, and he was able to land three very good recruits. It almost makes you forget how bad of shape we were in when Stallings was dismissed. Frankly, there were no decent players with any options to go elsewhere left of the team; the rich history of the last two decades was overshadowed by Pitt’s record in the ACC; the facilities were towards the bottom of the ACC; Attendance became nonexistent; there was zero pipeline from the program to the NBA that would return to the program to help recruiting (like Donald); and, Capel had to play clean because of past infractions.

Now that HCJC has had some notable misses, people throw their arms up and ask how? I mean, the guy is swinging for the fences, how is that bad? It is ok to be upset that we missed, but complaining about the coach and staff is a bit premature at best, and at worst, wrong.

The program has a little buzz now, far from glory, but distancing itself from Stallings toxic mess. We have 2 really talented players drawing buzz. We have a player that could jump to the NBA (bad for wins in the future, but great for recruiting.) The facilities look great. Notably, we are finishing 2nd or 3rd with top 50 players, one will eventually pop. HCJC actually assembled a decent staff in light of all of the above. His recruits are better than Stallings and the end of Jamie’s stint.

Seriously, we are very lucky that HCJC took the job. This was never a 2 year rebuild. Let the man build our program back.

HTP, ‘Wood
