What basketball coach under 50 would you throw the check book at to start coaching your basketball team:

Dixon is 49 and they name about 10 others:

Dixon
Matta
Smart
Stevens

Start a list

Brad Stevens, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. Took a mid-major (at the time) to two NC games, almost beat Duke in the 1st.

Marshall and Smart as well, to a lesser degree.

Dixon would be in the first five on everyone's list.

Stevens
Sean Miller
Archie Miller
Dan Hurlley, Hurley's brother....remember him? coached Wagner, YES Wagner to a win over Pitt at the Pete a few yr. ago
He;s now doing well at Rhode Island with a very young team (NIT this yr.) Watch this guy.
Bobby Hurley

Stevens moving on to an even higher level soon. Celts to get better.
I like the Millers because of Western Pa roots, but the Hurley's are as good. Notice the similarities?...Famous coaching fathers, brothers, and all BBall coaches.

They also said they were counting Dixon as over 50 as he will be 50 soon...you should have listened better

Right now, that might change if he has a 3-5 year continuation of the level they are at now.

Marshall, Smart and Sean Miller. Brad Stevens if he isn't in the Pros at the time.

Everybody's list except some board jackals.

Usual suspects, including the OP.

People forget the job Marshall did at Winthrop, which may be even more impressive than what he's done at Wichita. Coming from the Big South, which is not a mid-major conference, its what people call "low major," which is just a nice way of saying "minor D1" or "pretty much D2." He got a team from the Big South all the way up to an 11 seed (which has to be a record for that league) and beat ND in the round of 64. Marshall, all else equal, is probably one of the best 5 coaches in America.
