We aren't getting a decent HC without an established salary pool for players. If you though boosters had too much say as it is, how bout, "I will put X amount into the NIL pool only if you hire THIS coach."

Correct. If he makes the tournament, he's off to an A10, AAC, or good mid-major to save his career. Because he's losing all his players. He'd pull a Dechellis.
I think he meant “making atonement”. As in Capel will feel guilty for taking tens of millions from a gullible university that just wants competent basketball so it can remain in the ACC in peace, and pay for its boutique Lacrosse program. But instead got empty stands and a national laughingstock from his dubious efforts. The wracking guilt will inspire Capel to donate a good bit Pitt’s money to some cause that a good 50% of the population assuredly hates (whatever it is).
