What Lyke does from here will say a lot about her future as AD.

An Ad who is first rate has already made the decision and has their replacement signed sealed and delivered.

Not dumping Stallings is not an ooption if Pitt is to show it’s serious about being competitive in big time revenue sports

Dumping him and letting this drag out only to make another bargain basement uninspiring hire would be even worse

I’m ok with a Duzz type hire. (Highly rated assistant or lower level coach who is high energy). Just don’t drag the process out to give the perpetual appearance that Pitts admin is clueless

$10 million dollar buyout is the problem. Saw a tweet that $7.5 million may be the agreed upon number but still a lot of money

How much will they lose the next year associates with season ticket sales and other sales. That has to be factored in.

Also what has stallings shown that indicates things will be significantly better next year.

They have to do something

Also to the person who said they can’t annouce until after the coach is done with the tourney BS. Coaches are hired before their season tourney is over all the time. Well that is programs that are serious about winning

I agree it is a bad situation but people who are saying that Lyke should just fire him without thinking have to take into account this huge contract buyout. Which of course she was not involved in when it was agreed upon.

Hopefully Colin Dunlap's tweet is accurate, and that the Pitt boosters will help fund a 7.5 million dollar buyout and that Stallings will accept it.

Ben Howland was "hired" by UCLA before Pitt lost to Marquette, as noted by the zavackas meltdown. Nothing was actually officially announced until after Pitt was done though. If Pitt hires someone like Thad matta, sure it could be done very quickly (especially in his case with his prior relationship with heather.) If Pitt is going to hire someone from a school in the NCAA tournament though, the announcement 100% will not come until after that coach's team is finished.

I don't care if she was involved in it or not, she needs to own it. If Pitt had hired a big-time AD, they'd have known all about that buy-out before taking the job, and have find ways to deal with it by now.

This is kind of a watershed moment in Pitt athletics...what she(Pitt)does here is going to have a spillover effect on all sports and I think a lot of Pitt fans have had ENOUGH!!!!! Beware, Heather.

yeah but she doesnt have 10 million to spend at her disposal, unilaterally. The final decision must come from Gallagher with input from wealthy boosters who would help with the buyout

Very nice retirement plan Barnes gave his buddy Stallings! Oregon St has to be wondering what they did.
