Heavyweight Recruiting?

Anyone have any information on Heavyweight recruiting targets? This will be Thomas’ senior season, and Gavin hasn’t signed anyone else in his first two classes. There obviously are less prospects at Heavyweight than at other weight classes, but I assume the staff is pursuing a few.

Time will tell how this one works out, but I know the coach of another high place winner at heavyweight last year that also worked out with this kid for other national events. He said the kid is lazy and does not have the greatest attitude. Hopefully Gavin can turn him around...

Not that I am doubting that info, but considering that Gavin has said that he likes to recruit kids with drive and work ethic, I would be surprised if that was the case. If it is true, then the program will shake him out of it

What you say it true. Also, he has a very arrogant attitude, extremely cocky. However is is very young with a year of high school remaining and I would think Coach Gavin would be able to correct all that. But a very good recruit on paper. But I think the Burnett kid is a real stud!

Whitehill is a really important get at a weight with a real need. It would have been nice to have gotten a Hwt last year so he would have a redshirt year before Thomas leaves. I suspect Gavin will redshirt Whitehill and wrestle Rickert next year.

Rutgers is also becoming a good program in the Big ten. If they want him he must have something attractive.

Jake Ryan is a Senior this year and has not committed. I think he may also play football.

He is already pretty successful at the HS level. If we can fix the attitude he might have a higher ceiling than some of the higher ranked kids who are actually pushing the edge of their potential. Time will tell. Pressure turns some into diamonds and others into dust.
