Just completely half baked the way Ruiney treats Pitt. Gold 1 will be a nightmare with that garage for the game. They only had Gate B open I believe. Not enough ticket takers and people checking goods. Shoved us on the hot side of the stadium on a brutally hot for spring afternoon. Not enough concession stands open made us sit all on one side lower level so except for those between the 40s the sight lines flat out blew. The longer we stay in that ketchup hell hole the more crappy Mr Ruiney 2 will treat us. Less than 2nd class more like steerage. Really Art2 is nothing more than a homelier version of Steve Pederson.

I believe the arrangements were the call of PITT. We could have had more ticket takers etc. We were paying the costs and were keeping it to a minimum.

There were no ticket takers... because it was FREE to attend. Putting everyone on a single side closest to the field seems to me to make good sense. It established a healthy concentration of fans. There were 5 or so concession stands open and they had beer. All-in-all, a perfectly acceptable means of viewing a spring exhibition game.

The sight lines from where I was... 25 yard line down low... were quite nice. (I usually sit in the Club section where, again, viewing of the field is nice)

The reflexive negativity of some of you folks is astounding.

People just bitching to bitch. All the concessions in the great hall were open. They had merchandise available both inside and outside. There were not ticket takers because it was a free event. At any NFL stadium, you are going to go through security (the world we live in).

There was absolutely no issue at all with anything on Saturday for a meaningless glorified practice.

So you blame the FAR SUPERIOR, DESERVING, CHAMPIONSHIP football program for Pitt's problems. So Rooney runs the logistics for the Pitt games? Are you sure about that?

the parking garage in gold 1 will actually have more parking space for football games and should be completed by fall (Im guessing on this, it looks close but I don't know). so that argument is out. yeah, it ruins tailgating for sure, I enjoy tailgating out in open more than a garage but that's life..

basically every point that OP made is wrong.. I mean not kind of wrong but 100% factually incorrect..

Even the garage to me makes sense. Yeah, it sucks that space is lost for tailgating (though it was lost last year as well as they started the project), but it is dead parking space which now will hold a lot more spaces. As more businesses, hotels, and office spaces go up down there, this is a need to just find people to park.

This is what it is when you are in a major city. Would be the exact same if Pitt had a campus up in Oakland....actually would probably be worse situation if Pitt had a on campus stadium in this regard. Pitt isnt po-dunk middle of nowhere were people park in grass cow pastures around a stadium. Will take the former rather than the later any day of the week.

If they ever end tailgating, which I can see, citing "safety" and to stop drinking, I'll never go to another Steelers or Pitt game ever again! If it's just to see the game, it's better on TV, 99% of the reason I go in person is to get drunk at the tailgate party.

Of course, I think most agree with you. I said in another thread, sports and sobriety just do not mix. I tried it about 10 years ago, bucs v. Bats game in DC, it was weird.

Thank goodness for good old fashioned supply and demand, beer will always be readily available inside and outside of all sporting venues in this country for generations to come.

does anyone think that the steelers or any member of the Rooney family had ANYTHING at all to do with the spring game? Was it really "Brutally hot" on Saturday?

No way it was hotter than September sitting there baking so no, brutally hot is quite excessive

Yes it was brutally hot. Got up to 81. If you are at 78 it is pleasant and wonderful. Add those three degrees and go straight to brutal and you feel like you are in the French Foreign Legion and getting bitched at by the Sgt in Beau Geste. Hell they could have filmed a Cool Hand Luke remake with the amount of sweat in attendance...

last year's game against nova and that game the year before, Youngstown st, they were both "brutally hot." To me anyways, but I hate the sun. yes, I said it, I hate the sun. I get it's value to our solar system but it still sucks.

Can't you spell or did you just think you were being clever ? Go for a hike.

It was warm for April and I definitely got sunburnt.....but it was not August/September hot. Not in any comparable way.

Hot? Hot was the Penn State game. Yikes.

speaking of those labor day FCS scrimmages that are always sickening hot, why not schedule them for evening, 6pm(ish). it would help attendance, it would be nice to come down earlier, enjoy the rib fest when it's not 11am and 90 degrees, call me crazy but I don't like eating hot ribs before noon when cooking in sun, and it would appease the soccer moms/dads who can now go to game..

these games are not on TV anyways so I doubt the espn8.com live streams effects the kickoff.. just doesn't make sense to me..

It was. My phone said 80, it felt like 90 in the sunny side......but that's probably because it was the first time most of us were in the sun since the Penn State game last year. It did seem "brutally hot."

Perhaps they could have made a gameday call to close off the sunny side and have everyone on the other side but then people would complain about having to walk all the way to the other side to get to their seats since most people come from the Great Hall side.

Its got to be said if being too hot and sunny for an April 15 scrimmage is a complaint item, then that is something a lot of places would like to complain about.

Sometimes buccos factor, like this year.

Its all about the Pirates. They play at home the day of the YSU game at 7 p.m., so prepare for a noon start. They're away for the rest of our home games during September this year.

uh, geez, cant believe I forgot about that annual scheduling conflict/issue.

The garage will be finished in time for the season, because I got an email from the ticket office a week or so ago asking if I wanted to change our parking passes to the new garage.

Umm, if you really can't watch sports without alcohol, I think you might have a problem.

Yep, so this will be the schedule:

YSU - 1PM, weather should be 88, no clouds

OKST - noon - ESPN2

Rice - 12:30 - FSS syndicated, 55 and rain all day, 20K people show
