No - u take the money from the buyout and make a huge offer to Marshall first before doing anything else.Well, I posted a few months ago this could happen and most people thought it was a foolish idea. People need to start listening to me. I also said Ohio State thinks it can do better than Thad Matta and has the money to do so. Matta isnt on the verge of being fired but his seat is a little warm. You know Ohio State would like to go out and get Greg Marshall. If I'm Barnes, I'm reaching out to Matta right now.

Pass on Matta. Had his chance already on the big stage for years, and failed. Ohio State can have him.
Why would he stay if he gets a TCU offer?Still wouldn't want Matta. Especially since Dixon is not going anywhere.
What's the Matta with you?Well, I posted a few months ago this could happen and most people thought it was a foolish idea. People need to start listening to me. Failed? Not close. OSU just wants to be Duke or UNC. They can afford that but he cant deliver that.

You need a guy whose got nothing better to do with 10,000,000Paul Zeise is reporting that his buyout is in the $10 million range. I really don't see see how TCU can justify spending that and having to pay his lofty salary as well for their basketball program.
They play in an arena that sits 8,500, are in a pro-market, and have a small alumni base. How much revenue do they think they can squeeze out of that program to justify that cost?
Just don't see it.
Why would he stay if he gets a TCU offer?
New start clean slate at the end of his coaching career!
Or struggle at PITT in the hole that he's dug?

Of the real reasons he may have to take a new job, I guarantee one of them is not that he feels underappreciated by "some" fans. It's that he has a new boss that didn't hire him, is in a new league that he never wanted to be in and that has made his job-winning-more difficult, and that at this point for whatever reason he can't get enough of the type of players to come to Pitt that are necessary to be consistently competitive in the ACC.I think it's time for a change as well. This program has not been to the 2nd weekend of the tournament in 8 years now next season and has been going backwards under Dixon the last 5 years or so. Its just not good enough here anymore and if Jamie is truly upset about fans being frustrated about the way this program is playing then he can take his whiny ass and get out. The loss the other night by Wisconsin was the final straw for me with Dixon. He is too narotic of a coach and too stubborn and is never going to adapt or change his style. It's time for him to go. This program I'm convinced can find that coach that can get them to the Final Four he is out there somewhere. Losing Dixon is not the end of the world.
With the $$ he gets the facilities the conference affiliation there should not be a 4 year transition conundrum.Of the real reasons he may have to take a new job, I guarantee one of them is not that he feels underappreciated by "some" fans. I was afraid the move to the ACC would hurt basketball, and it clearly has. I for one would like to see him stay and get it turned around. He will need players to do so. If he can't get the train back on the tracks in the next 3-4 years, then make the change. My fear is that if we lose Dixon and hire some up and comer, we end up with another revolving door type situation like we've had with football. Unless we are willing to pay some really big money for the likes of a Gregg Marshall, we are nobody's destination job. Just ask Ben Howland. Point being, we could do a lot worse than Dixon. He's deserves his fair share of criticism but looking at the big picture he's also earned his fair share of respect.
