"If you didn't show up to the game today, you have no right to state an opinion about this team."

That is a steaming pile of crap. I'm so sick of this. You're right. I wasn't there. That doesn't make me a bad fan or make my opinion invalid. If I had paid the $5 on stub hub the tickets were going for, nothing would have changed. The team would still suck. The only difference would have been that I would have wasted 4 hours of my life instead of being able to turn it off at halftime and do something productive. If a restaurant opened that consistently served bad food, and people stopped coming, do you think that the idiots who still wandered in and got served crap would blame the bad food on the fact that the restaurant wasn't full enough? Enough of this idiocy. I'll go to games when the people who run this program show an ounce of competence.

pompous pious bullstein you are spot on. That's why STFUwas invented.

Nobody tell anybody to not voice an opinion based on attending a FB game.

Drove in from Kane, PA at 4AM for both the Youngstown and Ok. State games. Wholeheartedly disappointed both games. Not sure I'll waste another weekend doing this.

Im going golfing when Rice comes in to town

Then we damn well better only hear from you your score, number of putts and fairways hit.
Also if you have Sky Caddie avg distance off the Tee.

Been saying this for years! Pitt tells it's customers here eat poop, eat enough poop we will upgrade to meat. That's not how a big business works , but many of these nimrods don't get it , and they even try to tell me it's not a business. LMAO

I have to drive 5 hours one way. To get to many other sites that have football on campus , 1 hour or less. I most weeks drive the 10 hours round trip, some weeks you know the ass kicking isn't worth it!

I'm torn on this one.

Full Disclosure I didn't go to the game. I do have two club seats and gave them away so they were used. I have two young kids and with the wife working over night at UPMC east and me being out of town last week for work i couldn't swing it. I at least feel somewhat responsible for Pitts struggles though. I mean I spent over $1000 bucks last week going to State College but didn't make a real effort to go to the game yesterday. I guess this is just me being honest, but I just don't care as much as I used to.

Maybe I'm beaten down by being perpetually disappointed? I mean to be one of two power 5 schools to not go through the OOC undefeated in 27 years? Moreover, my laziness was justified by the result.

I'll still watch next week, be fired up. Probably give my tickets away to Rice and if they beat Cuse go all in on ththe NCSU game only for them to lose 38-21 and hear about how "close" they are to being good.

I will get slammed for this and probably deserve to but this is about as down on the athletic program as much as I have ever been.

Losing in the manner in which they did, with the crowd they had, with that stupid shit on the scoreboard should be enough to embarrass some people into change.

Everyone knows Pittsburghers for the most part are "event" type people. Fans will only go when a big name is in town or Pitt is a top 10 team. That's just how it is.

Lol sorry for the rant....

But my point was to respond to the original point.

People should go to the games if they want change. But Pitt has a responsibility to make you want to go to the game. And for quite some time they haven't fulfilled that.

I get what you're saying, and yesterday just really sucked in part because there were a fair share of moments the last 2 seasons in which I was proud of our team, optimistic for the future, but now... I got nothing. Sucks to go in reverse. At least there's a clean slate for ACC play? Hard to be optimistic though
Anyway, I live ~4 hours away and have a 2 week long international trip coming up next month, yet I still want to try to make it to at least one game this year.

Yesterday was stunning.
Well stated.

With the bozos Pitt has running the university and specifically the Athletic Department....it would be possibly a blessing if there is a big shakedown in the P5 conferences, and Pitt gets left out ; forced to find a home consistent with the school's ability and willingness to compete.

The EGGHEADS at Pitt hate big time athletics i.e. Football, looking at its history that's pretty much uncontested.

You are just about as rock solid dumb as they come. When you post a steaming pile of garbage on a message board you can expect as much of an opinion on it as a team who lays a load of it on the field.

What is he wrong about ? You honestly feel Pitt takes football seriously and wants to win? Come on , they don't put forth the effort to prove that at all

I wouldn't go as far as to say that Pitt would be better off in the AAC, although its not as far fetched as it should be, but Pitt is a haven for career idiots. I don't think we're different from most other universities though, in fact, I think we're better than most.

Honestly, our program isn't as moribund as it seems after games like these and it isn't as good as it seems after a Clemson or 13-9. We are what we've been since the late 30's. We're an average regional team. 30-40 years from now, we'll be winning 7-8 games a year and we'll be playing in the Steelers' suburban stadium in front of atound 40k fans.

We should stop looking at 76-81' as what we should be and instead look at that era and those players and appreciate how they miraculously kept us from being relegated to mid-major irrelevence 30 years later.

The self appointed board genius

Youre nothing but a 2 bit insult artist.

Go ahead and defend an athelic department which has consistently ruined FB over its history.....
And let a BB program go in a complete meltdown to where they are literally begging people to buy tickets ....i

Yeah they deserve our praise

The restaurant needs more people to donate, obviously. Some will be fooled when they change the location and logo.

Pitt should thank the fans that they have left. Some younger than me, have never seen good football, and they still go to games. That's almost insane , kicked in the teeth, and then Pitt brass is defended by some on here , for not kicking harder, and we still have 30G loyal. That's insane to me , we should have 5G, that's what the brass really deserve.

We get the team and program we allow. When we still have too many defending the business of Pitt football, they will keep giving us what we ask for.

A tree stump would have been smart enough to see the reality of this program years ago.

Tree stumps have no patience, constantly want to make destabilizing change because of unrealistic expectations and/or timelines to meet them, and slobber all over idiotic treats like logos and uniform colors that they think carry magical properties. Often they believe individual game results or not putting the university into massive long term debt is some sort of proof that a leadership they know absolutely nothing about is hostile to successful football. Tree stumps are tree stumps and they go on ignore.

You keep beating the drum on landing 4 and 5 star recruits. Why should a 4 or 5 star recruit choose Pitt over Ohio St, ND, Penn St, and Michigan?

So you tell me- how long is realistic to meet expectations? I've been watching Pitt football for 30 years, and my expectations haven't been met once. Even a blind squirrel should find a nut once in a while. So would it be realistic for me to expect a truly competitive team once in my lifetime? When is this grand plan going to come to fruition? When I'm in an old age home?

This football program has had one embarrassing episode of failure and muck ups after another since the Clowns ran Jackie Out of town.
Look it up before hurling your blabberin insults.

Yeah patience.
Lol

How come you don't ask Paco about beating his same old horse? Is that because he is administered favored like yourself

I am still waiting for an answer.

At one time , many choose Pitt over those schools , but we allowed the brass, people like you , to just run the program into the ground. To where we are thought of like a MAC SCHOOL, that will take years to rebuild the damage Pitt has done to itself. So right now , you are correct , but it wasn't always that way, and it doesn't have to always be that way , you get that ?

This is spot on....

It's not the same as comparing to a restaurant or business.... Football programs are built in a community sense with boosters etc etc ... this is the same at the high school level... it's an investment of time and money .... in Pitts case they are near the top of living alumni in ACC and near the bottom in donations.... I don't see anyone from Pitt defending yesterday not the coach nor the administration.... but the path to change won't come from withholding funding....it's not a pro franchise... it's not a restaurant.... change comes from large numbers of people pushing in the same direction... not from snide remarks cynicism or infighting in the fan base while withholding funds that doesn't work

You're starting to go off the deep end again. Take a couple of breaths and relax before you end up getting suspended again.

If you've been watching Pitt football since 1987, and your preseason expectations was not met for any of those 30, then you do not have realistic expectations.

It is helpful to grow my ignore list as people out themselves as holding ignorant viewpoints that hold no value in engaging.

I started in 75 at 4 with dad, walking up the hill was a special part of that experience.
