Houston approved a $3MM per year salary for Herman.

$3MM is believed to be what Miami's cap is for their new coach, which is the smallest among P5 jobs with current openings.

So, that was a big dollar figure for Houston to be on the hook for if Herman decided to stay but it's relative chump change for the big time programs.

about a week ago, there were reports out there that herman had already agreed in principle to the south carolina job.
