I've seen some stuff on the boards regarding Ahlers and he has followed Narduzzi and now Whipple. It seemed possible that if Pitt hired Scottie Montgomery he might actually transfer from ECU, but they didn't and now he followed Whipple? Is there something going on there? Seems like it. This kid is legit and could help down the road. He had offers from Florida, Georgia, NC State and a lot of other schools showed "interest" such as Clemson, Michigan, Notre Dame, Oregon and Penn State. I also heard that he was originally from western PA, but I don't know if that is actually true. Does anyone know if he's transferring or considering it and if Pitt is a legit option? He'll have to sit a year and then him and Pickett will compete Pickett's senior year and Ahlers will have 2 years left of eligibility.

He was in Pittsburgh 2 weeks ago. Not sure if he was just visiting family, came to check out Pitt, or both.

He doesn't appear to be on Twitter at the moment.

I'd be stunned if he transferred. His dad is the long-time stadium public address announcer there, and playing there was his lifelong dream, regardless of who the coach is.
That would be understandable.

If only sons of people associated with our program (parents of former players, or who have high school coaches who played for Pitt etc) shared that same dream! It hardly ever happens though.

I would welcome the idea in a heartbeat. Who knows if Pickett is the real deal? Competition never hurts.

Be nice to get a transfer QB who could play right away, then redshirt Pickett. Little did we know, Pickett really could have benefited from a redshirt. Sucks redshirt rule changed after Pickett’s freshman year.

Or maybe Narduzzi shouldn’t have been so friggin stupid by putting him in the game.

If Pickett doesn’t develop it won’t matter but let’s not try to soon this any other way. That falls squarely on Narduzzi. Period.

Players with a couple years experience aren’t going to stand for being redshirted. I’m sure they would rather just transfer out first rather than sit for a year where the coaching staff has obviously lost confidence in them.

If I’m not mistaken Ahlers had amongst the worst completion percentage (48.3) of any QB in the country with a minimum of 200 attempts.

You can’t really teach accuracy, at least not to that extent.

Pass

From what I recall seeing him in action (ECU used all three quarterbacks vs. Temple, none of whom was able to move the ball), he was more effective as a runner. If he should somehow surface at Pitt (see my earlier comment on his tie to ECU), he may be better suited to the Aston/Hynoski role. Or, perhaps that frame and athleticism is better put to use at linebacker.

I didn’t watch the Temple game, but I did see him play a few times later in the year when he was starting.

Just way too inaccurate and that was against some unbelievably bad defenses.

He is not nearly good enough to be a starter at the ACC level.

He's mediocre. Nice kid, mediocre QB.

Pickett clearly took a huge step back from what we saw year 1. I put that squarely on Watson who was also his QB coach. I expect that we'll all be pleasantly surprised with what we see out of KP this year.

You saw 1 game. What is more accurate, 1 game or 14?
