I'd like to screenshot the ACC standings and post it here because the visual is so great to look at. Pitt sits at 4-1 and roughly 11 schools seperate them and NC State in the standings, as NCSU sits at the very bottom at 0-5! This is the same Coach and program who has cleaned our clock in recruiting like no other program in our history. We've gone head to head so many times over the past few years and lost just about every time. Gottfreid is 0-5 with Rowan, Anya and Barber in the starting line-up. Leonard Freeman, who is 2nd on the team in rebounds and who is in the top 7 rotation, was a player that we really wanted too. I mention Barber because this 5 star recruit's committing there led to Newkirks committing here, and the trickle down that followed.
Bottom line--Gottfried is doing less with more. He's doing less-by a significant margin- with the players we wanted.
Now, it's hard to tell Rowan that he made a mistake. He gets to shoot the ball as much as he wants and by the time he graduates, he will have a good career. But it's hard for me to not think that Anya would be a better player under Dixon. I am not sure how Gotfrieds kids do in the classroom, but it can't be argued that Pitt kids do very well in school. Anya should have come here.
We can all hope that NCSU continues to tank the rest of the year. Then maybe the next time we go head-to-head on the recruiting trail, Jamie will have some bullets in his arsenal.
