How close was Pitt to hiring Holliday?

I don't think it was very close at all. More of a message board thing than anything else, IMO.
My memory is failing me but who was the poster on here who worshipped Doc Holliday and wanted Pitt to hire him so bad?...he mentioned him in every post he made it was almost freightening.........
I forget who it was but you're correct. Someone was acting like he was the Messiah himself.

Holliday would have been a good coach for you and the plus of him being a former WVU player and coach to rub salt in the wounds of WVU fans. Doc is not a great coach but he is decent. He is a great recruiter. Urban Myer calls him the best recruiter in the nation under him. We have landed some guys at Marshall we have no business of landing. For instance we landed a 4 star dual threat QB who was ranked the #14 dual threat in the country and he was immediately eligible. We are most likely red shirting.
Anyway doesn't really matter because I don't see Doc going anywhere anytime soon. If he goes anywhere it would be back to WVU.

This was a few years we're talking about here Bubba. Not when we hired Narduzzi. However with all the coaching changes we've had I understand it's hard to keep track of.
I think several posters supported Doc a/c he recruited many prospects from recruit rich Florida.
Was this under Pederson? Since Holliday is actually a good coach there was probably no chance. Weren't we dangerously close to hiring Paul Pasqualoni at one point?
