How do u think Pitt will do against psu this year?

-Wait a second here. Ollison was the acc freshmen of the year on offense. His stats are better than Barkley and he scored more TD's than Barkley as a fresmen. Pitt gets Moss and George Hill, Penn State gets Sanders. Sizable advantage Penn State at RB for PSU? Based off what?

Barkley is a far more explosive and better back than Ollison. You'd be in limited company to not think that Barkley provides PSU with a sizeable advantage at RB if Connor doesn't play.

Here is a good way to evaluate one's views on the Running Backs & Teams and Game:

1. If a Pitt Fan ask oneself would you want Barkley on this Pitt Team?

2. If you are a PSU Fan ask oneself would you want Ollison on PSU Team?

3. If you are PSU Fan ask oneself would you want Conner starting For PSU on 10 September?

4. If you are a Pitt Fan ask oneself do you want Conner or Ollison to start and play more in that game?

One can have bias, favorites, and stick to supporting the Teams and University, but lying to oneself will never be the answer. Up to all to answer as you feel, believe, and know in your heart. This will tell you more than anything and need not post it unless you wish.

Explosive yes but tough not sure!
In a lot of the Nitter games especially the bowl game against GA Barkley took a beating and didn't keep on ticking.
He's one year older and stronger so this may change but if he gets pounded he goes to his knees early!
If he's arm tackled he'll be trouble.

I agree with you comparing Ollison to Barkley BUT I think the offensive lines of each team will determine the advantage at running back.

The nits are going to use a quick passing game as shown in their spring game. A few three and outs and their defense could be hands on hips gasping for air very quickly opening it up for whoever the back for Pitt is to have a big day.

I think Pitt's offensive line can beat up their defensive line and open up some huge holes and lanes for whoever the running back is. Their defensive line isn't experienced and deep as in the past and can be ripe for the picking so to speak. We catch them at the right time of year.

You have to also look at the front 7 as that who the OL will be blocking or trying to block. Price and Hendrix should be the best pay of DEs we have had since Romeus and Sheard!

Very good post with relevant insights, Thanks!

Regarding Ollison, I think the "fall forward every time" or "running down hill" skill is under appreciated. My man was a sure thing on 3rd and 3 or less. defenses last year knew he was getting it, and he converted every single time.. I love that. It looks easy but im sure it's not. O-line of course gets credit too.. His knock is not being able to make that second wave guy miss, and maybe that is valid but he had a damn good season as a freshman and I believe we haven't seen him at nearly his peak..

How do you guys think your Pitt Panthers will do against my lions this year?

I will wait to give my opinion. I am genuinely interested in analysis from Pitt fans.

Also, I have been following James Connors story and that kid is inspiring.

This game will come down to Pitt oline against our dline. Right now you have to give the edge to Pitt. 3 very good defensive lineman are gone from PSU, 2 of them were interior guys. The biggest question mark and the key to PSU being in the game will be the new offense. If it clicks then it will be a dog fight. If it doesn't click then I see a 10-14 point Pitt win. I'm not a homer, this is going to be a very difficult game for PSU to win.

one thing is for certain, the winner of this game will be sky high, the loser and it's fanbase, well it could be pretty ugly on the rivals board that following week.

-Thank You. At least you are being honest. Pitt didnt win anything yet. But at least you acknowledge the truth you have d-line problems which is by far the biggest problem Penn State faces going into the season.

Ditto......Very good post with relevant insights, Thanks!

Moorhead's Offense could be a problem for Pitt Defense too. Both Coaches have little time to get all their players to gel by the second game. This is a Toss Up Game for 2016 and subsequent games in 2017-19 will be great games too.

It any case it is good for CFB and should return every year as a National Debut Game, but until better minds prevail, I'll enjoy the next 4 games.

-Penn State lost to Temple 27-10. Spin that, you got embarrassed by Temple and have no d-line.
Spin this. Do you know how much talent was on Temple's D? Do you know how many will play in the NFL? Far more than Pitt had this past year. Why knock another team? Temple had very good talent last year.

That has absolutely nothing to do with what I stated. Temple had very good talent on D. Can you seriously argue that point? NFL owners agree and that's why they'll get drafted.

How many three and four star players did PSU have compared to Temple? If you say that stars don't matter, then why are you and the rest of the cult always bragging about your recruiting classes the last couple years??

If you say they do matter, then how did Temple destroy you? Maybe it was bad coaching from your head coach?????

Will Temple have more players drafted than PSU???

You're ate up with dumb...

What is your problem? I simply stated Temple had a very good D and will have at least 3 players in the NFL. Is that not true? Where did I make any comparisons to anything? You are the one with a serious comprehension problem. I said nothing of what you state.

You have a problem if you have to come over here all the time....it's called being worried....

You never stated that the D will have at least 3 players in the NFL. You asked if that was true. It is not true. It has yet to happen. That is an opinion, not FACT. You have reading comprehension problems punk.

So what is your point? What we stated is FACT.

Well then I guess you know more than NFL coaches and scouts. You're just mincing words. I never made comparisons, and transitive properties don't work in football. Please carry on the silliness. This is a free board, not paid. Who are you to tell someone not to be here?

-I evaluate RB's in terms of Touchdowns, taking games over, making big plays, and YAC yards.

Been following this argument, but I don't know how relevant any of that is when if you COMBINE those totals, you still come up with less than what SMU put up!

Nevertheless, I say Pitt by 2 TDs (though I'm obviously biased).

-Outside of this being a rivalry game, this game shouldnt even be close.

The only silliness around here are certain nitters coming over here and bloviating talking points and spinning the truth to create a certain narrative

That is silliness in its purest form

You can live here if you want, jack.
As a Pitt fan, I have no desire to see what nitters are saying on their board, because I have nothing to spin, I am not nervous about what PSU does, and I am confident in the direction the Pitt program is going...

Carry on with your farce...

Remember 13-9? We beat the number 2 ranked team at their place in the biggest game in their history. Because we were ready to battle. It's very tough to predict rivalries. Especially one like this. There will be so much emotion.

I love Pitt!!! But please shut up. You are jinxing us with all of your bravado and trash talk about how this won't be close.

You are acting like an elitist PSU jackass.

-Trash talk imposes fear. And that's what Penn State should feel.

Trash talk comes from insecurity and overcompensating. Act like you have been there before. Ever heard that.

-That is the biggest bunch of garbage Ive ever heard. You obviously have never played sports at a high level.

-I loved this team. Cocky as all hell, nasty as all hell, and flat out showed you who the boss was. Miami, showboat U. The same with Ali or any other great Champion. You can have the ball, our defense is going to come out and punch you in the mouth, and the offense takes over from there. Watch it. Thats what dominance looks like.

I think it's a tale of the same story, a lot of unknowns. Was at the military bowl and it was ugly for pitt. Watched the psu bowl, it was ugly. Mcsorely revived the offense in the second half and almost pulled it off. Outside of zettel and Johnson our de last year was an unknown. I'm thinking our de and starting two dt will be good but depth will be an issue. Starting lb group will be great and db are stacked. On offense it depends on the line. Studs at skill positions so that's the story.
