Rogue's Ramblings on this topic.
I won't defend X and Trey at the end of the game, but X wasn't even on the floor for a large percentage of the time when Wake make their 1st half run. You can't pin that on him directly. Maybe if you say he shouldn't have gotten some early fouls.
If I recall correctly, I think Capel was running with Trey, Murphy, Drumgoole, Hamilton, and Coulibaly during mid-late 1st half. I recall saying to my buddy, " I really don't like this lineup. I have no idea where the points are going to come from." That's where we were missing Toney. At least he would have locked down some D and grabbed some boards and maybe got us a bucket to stop the bleeding.
Drumgoole gives us very little from a contribution standpoint as a freshman, although I can tell he sees the court very well and his BB IQ seems superior to X, and Trey at this stage. He just does not score the rock right now.
Coulibaly is a below the rim guy. He will have a role here, but is not the answer we are looking for.
I'm afraid Trey has developed a reputation. The refs are on to his shenanigans with tripping. He needs to knock that $h!t off like yesterday. If I were Capel, he wouldn't see the floor for a week the next time he does it. Let's not lower ourselves to Greyson Allen's level here.
Brown is nothing more than an 8th man on a good team.
Everyone's hands are down in the zone D. You can't play good zone D with your hands down. It's fundamental and on the coaches.
Late in the game:
X's block on the french guy's 3 was clean IMO, and I think it could have been a turning point in the game. That call hurt.
Murphy passed up two open 3's late in the game. Why?
We never get a bucket coming out of a time out? What is Capel drawing up over there? Are the players just not executing?
That's all I have...
