After the Purdue loss I posted that we are pretty much the same exact team as last years team and unfortunately this is turning out to be true.
Can't defend anyone in the post, and struggle severely against more athletic teams.
This is by far the worst defensive team in 15 years.
Offensively, we can score at will against inferior teams, but teams that match or are better athletically we don't stand a chance.
I hope I turn out to be wrong, but the last few games this is becoming more evident.

Not as good as we might be. Certainly not as good as we looked vs. ND/Cuse....or as bad as we've looked vs. Ville/NCSt. Inconsistent on offense.....pretty consistently bad on defense. If we're scoring better, it does slow down opponents offense, which makes the score lower, if not the effort.
Our guys have to get pissed off.....they're more capable than they play all too often. We're certainly better than last year.

Again, this is simple. It's about matchups. If a team has a dominant post presence, and they have a guard that can neutralize James and deny Jamel the baseline, they reduce Pitt to a jump shooting team. Once Pitt has been reduced to a jump shooting team well, it might get ugly.

To be honest, not many teams have all those components or can do all of those things. The ones who do will beat this team like a drum every time they play - unless somehow someone magically makes the true athletes desire to play defense at a higher level - or makes the guys on this roster athletically gifted enough to play defense in this league.

Too soon to tell where this team is headed. They've balanced a couple of good wins with a couple of ugly blowout losses. Losses are one thing but blowout losses to a young team like Ville and to a crummy team likeNC St, at home no less, signal fairly significant team issues. Unless this team develops some toughness and plays some defense it's going to be a roller coaster season. If we lose both of the next two games, that's not a very good sign. Roster wise, both the lack of a center and quality guards continue to hamper this team offensively and defensively.

Well at about 6:05 if we win the jigers will be out and if we lose the fire jd crowd will be out on the basis of one game. In another 10 days we will know what we have but it isnt looking so promising right now
