On Wed the flagship station was basically calling out Pitt fans for their reaction to Franklin being on the Muller & Starkey show.

I get having him on for Jesse James (local kid) and Steelers DP. But Starkey intentionally was trying to elicit Franklin into saying he did "dominate the state" in last years Rec. class because he "got 7/10 Pa top ten kids"....and then Franklin smugly said "yeah the out of the other 3 we only offered 1....."

So the backlash the station got was ridiculed by the next days jockeys...no one that I heard called in to defend why Pitt fans were upset with Franklin being on air. Most of us could care less if he was talking about the Steeler DP. It was his gloating that Starkey allowed to happen on the "Flagship" station.

So I ask you...I have always felt the media (talk radio and Print) has always been anti/liking Pitt failures. My examples...

1) Same Old Pitt......
2) G. Junker
3) P. Alexander
4) Micco
5) equal billing for PSU & WVU in the print
6) Ron "Fng" Cook
7) Sanduskygate wasn't a sports story...
8) Leading with PSU on front pages before Pitt and on local news in the city of Pittsburgh
9) Not voting for Fitz for the Heisman.....
10) Saying the State Penn is local....
11) Editorials in the trib calling Wanny the "Joe Issuzu" of college football by a PSU alum

Please give me more examples as I put my case together and explain to the nit wits at our flagship station why Pitt fans get upset when they promote the competition.

Why give a crap who that station has on. It is a talk show and Franklin was in town. Having him on isn't going to be a factor in recruiting or anything else. If Pitt fans wouldn't get all wussy over something like that they wouldn't get called out.

I'm fine with the media continuing to hype up the dominate the state stuff, because the irony is that those morons think they are helping FrankClown but don't realize that it looks bad when he fails to live up to that hype. He failed to get the top PA player last year after a Pitt coaching change, and is struggling to hold on to the top player in PA this year, and most likely will lose him.

Maybe they should ask him why he tried to call his team's gang rape victim and then lie about it.

Not sure if you noticed but they troll Pitt fans because fawning all over PSU and WVU doesn't generate the call volume. If they're trolling, it's because they're PSU guys (like Guy Junker) or they need ratings. Ignoring them won't make them go away as long as they ruffle a few feathers.

Also, love that Franklin buy's into the standard message board excuse of "we didn't get him because we didn't really want him". Wish I had a dollar every time I heard a Nitter say that.

I find it much easier and enjoyable to simply not read (or listen, when I'm in town) anything those guys say. I pretty rarely even click on topics here that start with words like Ron Cook.
I protest with my time. I barely even look at the Post Gazette anymore, and when I do, it's only Werner's stuff.

Well they certainly can be. Although maybe not in Pittsburgh, if what has made the air over the last decade plus is any indication. But as long as the lowest common denominator continues to listen to hosts who enjoy trolling them, yeah, they aren't going to be related. Which says just as much about the listeners as it does the hosts. Dude.

^^^This.^^^ It would be difficult for me to respond when I don't listen to The Fan anymore.

Furthermore, they must be getting desperate for ratings. I've known several talkshow hosts - former & current, and not sports-talk - and they would say that whenever they wanted to create a spike in their ratings, all that they had to do was to introduce a topic that was a guaranteed flame-producer. Abortion and Affirmative Action were always biggies.
