Dixon & Few being the 2 most successful coaches who haven't made a F4?? I'm guessing it'll be Gottlieb, if he's still employed.

Everyone's been saying that for years. I think this year is Gonzaga's only real shot though. They play an incredibly weak schedule every year 90% of their games. Come tourney time they can't hang with the elites. Pitt however when they were really good beat all the top dogs in college basketball during the regular season. I think their failures had a lot to do with officiating in the tourney not allowing Pitt to bully teams like they were allowed to in the Big East. That's also I think their biggest challenge now in the ACC. Pitt needs to still play tough defense yes, but they also IMO need to be a more finesse offensive team to compete in the ACC.

Plus weird stuff happens in March. It's awful that everything that happens November through February gets thrown out by most of the mainstream talking heads. Gonzaga is a fantastic program. If they had made a Final Four I don't think they'd be in a substantively better or worse place.

The talking heads are not the only ones who throw out Nov through March - plenty on here do as well.

Honestly, if or when it happens, so what. There are a hell of a lot worse lists to be on. And the other thing, there is a lot of truth, not just that it is truthful but since we play each other this week, it is also very relevant.

I don't know what some of you think about the media. It is like "will they stop reporting on the murders and just start covering the people who aren't murdered?"

Hmmm ... Seems to me that by playing in the nation's #8 or #9 strongest conference and having OOC games with Pitt, SMU, Arizona, UCLA, Washington, Washington State, Texas (or Texas A and M) and another game in the Bahamas ...90 percent = "incredibly weak" seems a "bit" over stated.

#8 or #9 strongest conference is a bad conference. I'll give you they do play some good OOC games. But Gonzaga would not be a top team in the ACC or any other big conference. Like I said though, I think this Gonzaga team should really end up being their best. They're gonna present some real matchup problems for just about any team they play this year.

My only point was Pitt and Gonzaga both have not fared well in the big dance. Pitt at least can point to the fact they were consistently one of the best, if not the best team in the Big East annually. Gonzaga winning their weak conference doesn't say too much to me. Nonetheless, Mark Few has done a great job there and is a very good coach.
