Anyone care to suggest a lot to park on near the stadium? No tailgating space needed as we will be attending a party.

Park downtown and either walk across or take the T across to the stadium.
If you can get to the building at least four hours before kickoff, you can park in the casino parking garage for free. One HUGE factor, no one under the age of 21 will be allowed to enter the casino. No tailgating allowed but we go to the casino to have some food and gamble before the game. Clean and safe parking, well worth it.
Second this. Considering it's going to be wet, your best bet is to park at the First Avenue Garage and Station. It's also a T-stop, so you just park, walk to the T-stop (I believe it's on the third floor), and hop right on. It's all free to ride between various downtown/North Shore locations, so you don't have to do anything except follow the crowd (and I use the term "crowd" loosely, because I doubt the turnout will be all that great this week). Very simple to figure out, and you won't get drenched walking back to your car or anything.
Ad if you get there later than that, it can cost as much as $80. So be sure you get there very, very early before they start attending the entrance and making you pay.
Just make sure that you are in the parking garage at least 4 hours before kickoff. If not, its $80.00.
Parked up there a few years for Steeler's games. Kinda cutoff from other tailgaters by the highway but close to gate C. Enjoy! H2P
