How much does this kind of thing "matter" (Jay-Z)

I mean, obviously it doesn't hurt...what are your guys thoughts on how much, if any, impact this has on a potential recruit? It's cool and all from a fan perspective, but is this another tool in the box for Capel?

Now - he was probably there to recruit Zion to his Roc Nation Sports Agency, but still...

It does give the game a BIG TIME vibe. Now if only Pitt could be ranked and competitive with Duke again, and Jay Z actually being there to recruit a Pitt player for his agency, would be even better.

He was there to see Zion, but Jay Z's people reached out to Capel a few weeks ago per Craig Meyer, I believe. So even though he was there to see a Duke player, our coach has connections. Need more celebrities and A-listers at the games again.

It is a headline story on ESPN. Any story that mentions PITT without blowout loss is a good thing.
Agree - at the very least it provides visibility...oh, what? Jay Z was at Pitt? Maybe something cool is going on there, let me check that out.

Has jay Z been to any other Duke games this year? If not that's pretty wild that he would pick the Pitt game to go to

I may have missed it, but I haven't seen anything on ESPN...they had a blurb about it last night about him attending the game. Outside of that, not that I know of. If he had, I'm sure it would have been publicized, but then again, I may have missed it because it was Pitt related

He was at the opening of Savoy before, so maybe he chose Pittsburgh because he wanted to get a bite to eat while watching Zion on a national TV game.

Capel gets it! Kids want to be associated with a "cool" program and fans want to do the same.

Jay-Z is one of the top entertainers in the country and he was sitting courtside at a Pitt game on national TV. It doesn't matter that he was there to see the opposing player.

That kind of advertisement and recruiting pitch is priceless.

It gives the program and added buzz.

It said it was his first college bball game of the year.

It was awesome, the crowd was totally pro Pitt of course, but seeing the loud roar with each basket, and hearing a pin drop when we got down, it was clear the Zoo is back.

I don't think it'll help that much since it's probably a one-time deal, but it won't hurt. It doesn't matter that he was there to see Zion, all of the pictures of him clearly show he's sitting right in front of the Oakland Zoo. I was at the game it it felt pretty big time seeing Jay Z there as well as Ryan Shazier.
