Just curious. I mean I wouldn't go in all likelihood. Been to Winston-Salem and Charlotte and had a great time in both places and would have gone to any other Tier 1 Bowl but flights to El Paso and spending time there around the holidays just doesn't do it for me. That said, I think it's a good bowl for this team.

Tomorrow you will probably see the Alumni Association with an astronomically priced package as they usually do. My guess is $2K per person though sports travel scammers, Primesport.

Hypothetically though, how much would it cost Pitt to charter flights to and from El Paso? Wouldn't it be a lot cheaper for fans if they did this than flying commercial to this outpost?

I think it is something like $50 per hour per per passenger IF Pitt filled the plane.

If that were true, then it would only be about $300 per person. I have no idea if that is accurate, but if true then a charter is a no brainer.

I'm guessing you would need 5 hours each way when adding in other stuff line boarding.

That's what the 25th is for, the 31st is to drink the remaining nog and any other left over alcohol in the house, by the end of it family won't even know who is who anyways.

How dare people on a Pitt football message board want to go to a Pitt football game?

Have fun and knock yourself out.

However I find it to be BS when anybody on this board calls out people for not attending bowl games. Pitt couldn’t pay me to attend a bowl game over a holiday break.

Fair enough....for you. However, this is a Pitt forum for people who cheer for Pitt, and like to go watch Pitt play football. So, I don’t think your stance will get much support here.

It is one thing to complain about people not coming to a home football game. That is a valid criticism. Criticizing people for not dropping thousands of dollars to go to a bowl is stupid.

Frankly half the posters here don’t attend games.
My point is: if you’re going to come on this forum and b***h about going to games, and about how Pitt would have to pay you to go to the game...why are you here? I’m here because I love Pitt football...love to watch Pitt football...and will watch no matter who they play.

Is it frustrating sometimes? You bet (like, for the last 35 years). But, I can’t kick the addiction...I’m a fan.

The $ 50 / yr that another poster posted is the cost of taking a bus.

Here's the cost of chartering an aircraft.
A minimum of $ 1200 per hour for a small turbo prop or small jet ( two pilots no flight attendant) up to $10,000 for a larger ( 50 or 50 +passenger) jet with crew ( two pilots and two flight attendants).

Per billable hour means from the time the plane is pulled out, crew does flight prep, flight ready, with crew on board to touchdown and passenger deployment both ways.
You pay for weather and air traffic control delays.
I took this from literature from one of our plane charger companies.

How much does a private jet charter cost?

The cost to charter a plane can range anywhere from $1,200 – $10,000 per billable flight hour. That range includes a wide variety of aircraft from small turboprops to the most expensive luxury business jets.

My company chartered a lot of jets to get executive and customers to different places.
It's fast and easy but not cheap!

I was on a few private charter trips when the C suite people needed me to be where they were every minute otherwise I would fly commercial and meet them places.

Its a miserable experience for a support person ( reporting to C suite people) like I was since you're stuck in a small plane, you're working the whole time, no drinks, all business, etc. I preferred to fly commercial leave a day early and meet them places.

Like airlines passengers have baggage allowances and baggage weight allowances.
With aircraft weight = money in the from of fuel costs.

People can watch on tv.

The Travel Company is gauging interest for a trip. $1750 for two nights. They put some info on the Panther Fanatics group but not on their website yet.

Yea, I figured. I predicted $2K. You could take the family to El Paso for 2 days or Tahiti for a week. I can't believe how much those Pitt sponsored trips are. That's why if I was Pitt, I'd look into chattering a plane. Don't make any money off it, just get some fans there at a reasonable price and let them get their own hotels, transportation, etc. I would wonder if Pitt could charter a plane, charge $300 round trip and break even. You could get some reasonable hotel and Uber to the game and spend not even $500 per person.
