This IU guy who never plays used his NIL money to pay off his sister's student debt? He is a benchwarmer. How much NIL money are these kids getting?

The article makes no reference to how much debt she had, so there is no way to know what kind of money is in play here.

No, but it is very reasonable to be think anywhere from $50K up to a $200K.

How much money can a benchwarmer make that this article even gets written? The guy is a nobody. Does he make 5K and paid off her 5K in debt? I mean maybe but that is misleading as heck because who cares about 5K in college debt?

I think its pretty likely that somehow this benchwarmer is on the payroll as some NIL funds have established minimum salaries for all team members. Maybe its 25K, 50K, 100K, I don't know but the point is for a guy who sucks and never plays, he's probably making more than good players all over the place. Makes you wonder what JHS got.

He was a four star recruit, who’s from Bloomington, and was the Indiana state high school player of the year at a high school in Bloomington. From his social media, it looks like he has NIL deals from a solid number of Bloomington-based businesses and the Bloomington tourism bureau. He’s a uniquely marketable athlete for that specific school.

Bah! All of that is meaningless. The only thing that matters is that SMF can't understand this.

Reading instead of blindly guessing for the Win!

If we are talking about legitimate NIL deals, which entities like the Bloomington Tourism Bureau has to be, they cannot be worth more than the value he brings. So we're talking a few grand at most. How much can Joe's Flower Shop or Bill's Hardware really be paying this benchwarmer? If he is paying off student debt, it has to be based on some pay for play booster salary

That was dumb. Biden would’ve done that in a few years anyway

Terrible ROI

I dont know why anyone would pay off student debt early. Interest rates are typically extremely low. If you have extra disposable income that you feel could be used for paying off student debt, it should go into the stock market, not into student debt. Now, if you have high interest rate student debt, that's different. Plus, there are always programs coming out to wipe away some amount of student debt depending on the profession you choose. Pretty stupid decision by this kid to spend some of the only money he'll ever make playing basketball since he obviously sucks on his sister's debt which may have been wiped out eventually anyway.

Again, if this is a legit company, they have to pay fair market value. This kid is probably worth like $500-$1000 or just a free set of tires to Tire Discounters.
They can pay whatever they want to pay. They only have to answer to whoever they answer to internally.

I’m just using it as an example that it’s not like he’s only getting Joe’s Hardware deals.

Right but if it is a legitimate business, they will only pay what they feel he is worth to the business. So how much money does this benchwarmer bring in to Joe's Hardware? $1000? That's about his worth. Now if Joe is a fanboy and doesn't care about losing money, then sure he may pay him more than he's worth but businesses arent in business to lose money.

Fair market value. Lololol. Where are addisons commercials and billboards for what he got...stop your non dense of acting like there is really something like fmv in any of these deals

You dont get it. Real businesses have to pay fair market value. Fanboy businesses or fake businesses (like NIL collectives) can pay more. Using Addison as an example, he did a social media commerical for United Airlines. It wasnt even a TV commerical. They probably paid him 5K for that. His money came from boosters not real companies.

No they don’t. Real businesses hire the executive’s moron failson or the nephew of some important client all the time.

You could probably fill endless books of examples of real businesses doing wild shit with money

Big difference. In those instances, there is the idea that those nepotism hires can at least do an adequate enough job and those jobs are so inconsequential that the Board of Directors dont know or don't care.
United Airlines cannot pay Jordan Addison $500K for Twitter commericals. Many people would lose their jobs over that. And Joe's Hardware cant pay a benchwarmer $25K as Joe has to make a living for his family. He cant afford to pay this benchwarmer more than he's worth.

They can and do. Business owners - especially small business owners - can do some wild things with their money. Some finance small representative races for their buddy. Others pay a player for their favorite school. Neither have a true ROI.

Right. It has to be a fanboy who is fine with losing lots of money. How many Bloomington fanboys are fine with losing so much money that this scrub was able to pay off his sister's student loans. The numbers dont work. Its much more likely that the bulk of his money come from a pay for play booster NIL salary

Anthony Leal does have a deal with Baratool Sports. I don’t know if he has released full list of all his deals.
