If Miller or Patino were hired next season, would you still think it would take 3 seasons to rebuild this program? Stallings is simply not the right guy for this program. Major moves must be made for there to be any chance and it starts w coaching
Let’s hope there is a plan in place

Sean Miller missed the NCAAs 2 of his first 3 years at Arizona.

So, yeah, I think it might take him time to find his footing. Especially since he’s probably playing it a little straighter on the recruiting trail now that Book got pinched.

Dumb hypothetical question.

Would hiring Nick Saban still have football winning 8 games a year?

Would Pirates trading for Stanton improved their RF?

Would Steelers trading for Gronk improve their TE position?

None are remotely possible so it makes no sense to try and use that to disparage Stallings who admittedly is not doing a good enough job but I am also realistic to know he walked into a tough situation as well.

Miller isnt in the same category as Pitino.

Pitino gets this team to the NCAAT next year with a few of his usual grad transfers. He also sells out the Pete. You have to wonder if his salary (which would be discounted) plus Stallings's buyout could be made up in ticket sales.

My prediction is that Pitino lands at an East Coast school, maybe BC, UConn, St. John's, Rhode Island, heck, maybe Providence again.

What is crazy is Pitt could hire a HOF coach tomorrow at a crazy discount a d he'd say yes. But we wont do it

"I think anyone who hired Pitino would literally be putting his job on the line," said one Division I athletic director who spoke on the condition of anonymity. "How could you have any confidence he would stay straight?"

....

So it's just very, very difficult, in this ever-changing climate of college athletics, to imagine an athletic director being willing to put his job on the line to hire a 65-year-old with this baggage -- even a 65-year-old as terrific at coaching as Pitino is terrific at coaching. And even if some athletic director did, how many university presidents or chancellors would sign off on it and invite the public relations hit his school would undeniably take?

Zero, I think.

And most seem to agree.

-That may be true. But if attendance keeps falling the way it has the higher ups are going to get wiped out 1 by 1. This season needs to turn around, or something needs to change. You cant have under 1000 people attending an ACC game. Unless you want 8 cheerleaders and 2 fans clapping, we are at rock bottom in the ocean. The only way to go deeper is falling into quicksand at the bottom. This entire situation needs addressed immediately before it gets worse.

-The AD needs to start putting an early potential coaching list together, right now. If we lose out and Stallings isnt fired, the attendance next year will break all time P5 levels for a low. We are Duquense right now in attendance.

Why not go straight for Brad Stevens? Want a college coach? Gregg Marshall or Mark Few?

Some Pitt fans are just unreal.

You think a Catholic school will hire that guy? Ha!

You do realize that those guys were used for years to justify pushing out Dixon.

Anyone with common sense knows those guys aren’t coming here, but no reason a young up and comer can’t be had.
