It is easy to pile on and criticize Pitt hoops but I enjoyed, if not delighted in, these last two games. Still make mistakes but every Pitt team has.

They come to work every game and deserve credit for their efforts for sure. They could easily have won all of the last six games and be sitting at 8-4? (I didn’t look up the current record and am just remembering the ACCN info)

If we were going into ACC season with that record and wins against Minnesota and Virginia, the fan base would be certainly expecting a just under 500 to 500 ACC record.

Possibly add Ithiel and I think this team has a whole different vibe to it.

But again everything could fall apart starting next week.

It is so hard to tell.

We seem to have good chemistry. I remember a couple instances where Horton ignored Capel or showed an attitude. Hopefully, he fits in well and doesn’t mess up this new chemistry we got going on.

The beginning of the ACC schedule isn’t impossible to navigate so hopefully we can win a few. When this team gets even just a little bit of good shooting it will have a chance thanks to the solid D and rebounding.

Agree. Guys like big MO and Burton are gaining alot of confidence from these past few performances. Hopefully it carries over into ACC play. If the uptick in competition derails that confidence then we struggle for any wins. If not, and Horton returns we could win more ACC games than anyone thought possible given the conference weakness.

They keep improving and are working hard. Can’t complain about any of this

Even a couple of the close recent losses were enjoyable for most of the game.

I mean there was a point earlier where we thought we were going to get beat by 20 every night in the non conference.

They are starting to gel. Yesterday was fun to watch. Gueye has the wingspan of a condor, and you can feel his presence on defense. Baby steps for the Panthers, but an encouraging win over a decent Jax team.
About that decent Jax team:

The other, probably more important reason, is that until well into the second half Jacksonville showed no interest what so ever in putting pressure on our guards with the ball. That's a big part of the reason that they only had two fouls at half time, one of which was with about a minute to go in the half on a foul shot rebound that was clearly a "hey, we've only called one foul on them all half, we better call another one here" variety.

It's a lot easier to not turn the ball over when the other guys don't seem to have any interest in trying to force them.

Jacksonville is a decent team though.

No, not a decent team compared to all D1 teams. A decent Atlantic Sun team. Right now rated 6th out of 12 in Pomeroy.

That's how bad it's gotten. We're happy that we looked OK against an average Atlantic Sun team. I guess that beats the alternative though.

Had a meeting in Oakland on Tuesday , got to swing by to watch the second half.
Was nice to watch us actually execute.
I’m not sure Capel can survive this year -
But the team is scrappy and improving
