College Sports Associates takes credit for landing Buzz Williams at Virginia Tech. I think most wouldn't be upset with Buzz as we are with Stallings.
Looks to me like Barnes really wasn't a risk taker, i.e., going after a young up n coming coach from a mid major or lower program, someone with a potential upside but short on experience, particularly P5 conference experience.
Only way to rationalize it is to think he definitely preferred someone with not just div 1 head coaching experience, but lengthy experience at a P5 conference school.
