I love football, but the NFL bores me

ditto. Older I get, the more I like college over nfl. Not sure why, nothing to do with money or off field crap, I could care less about either. Just the on field product, I can watch any P5 game, very few non steeler games I can watch.. NFL should thank the lord above for the invention of fantasy football as well as gambling, pretty much is why the ratings are the way they are..

I'm with you guys too (although it certainly doesn't help that the Eagles are awful this year). It's hard to put a finger on why.

I haven't watched an entire NFL game in a couple of years. It is a 3.5 hour beer commercial. College is getting there, too.

I'm finding the problem with the NFL is the mediocrity disguised as parity. At 3-8 Dallas is only two games away from the lead in division. Similarly there are a bunch of 5-6 teams in the AFC that are still alive for the post season.

It wasn't too long ago that a team had to be 11-5 or better to make the playoffs and now with the exception of a very few coaching staffs each organization has to only be slightly better than the rest to get to where they want to go.

Ultimately this has lead to the emergence of companies like Fanduel and Draft Kings because gambling, fantasy teams and the like are the best way to keep people interested.

let's see

pass, pass, pass, or

run, pass, pass or

flag, review, review, pass, pass, flag, review pass, or

pass, pass, pass, or

hmmm lotsa passing. and no D as they have been hamstrung since they changed the rules in the 80,s and have continuously added rules for a points oriented pass happy 4 down version of Canadian football.

Hail to Pitt

You guys watching this Steelers game??

FUN FUN FUN and that's only the 1st half!!!

I watch football all day on Saturday and read about the NFL games on Sunday night on espn.com.

I'm the other way around.
I can really only watch sports if I have a rooting interest.
I can usually find one in an nfl game. College, on the other hand, is next to impossible for me to find a team to root for.

I have the same amount of interest in watching Pitt and the Steelers. Most Sundays you can find an NFL game that in some way as a Steelers fan, you have to root for one team over another to help Pittsburgh's chances. Not every week in college has that scenario for Pitt. What makes college football so great though is the actual games. With a much smaller slate of games for the NFL limited to only a few time slots, you might get a couple of entertaining games a week. In this season more than most others even, more than half the time you're getting two bad teams or a bad team playing a team they have no chance against resulting in a blowout.

College on the other hand has so many games every Saturday, at all times throughout the day. There is usually always a matchup of at the very least two ranked teams at every single time slot. And to top it off, there is usually always more than a handful of wildly entertaining games. I don't think the NFL is boring in any way. But college football just has an excitement level unmatched by anything in sports IMO outside of March Madness. And those two I think are about as close to a tie as it gets. Also one last thing, I think college has far superior announcers. The NFL has a boatload of rambling morons announcing games.

The problem with the NFL is too many rules, if you eliminated 50% of them, nobody would notice, too many stoppages because there are too many nitpicky rules keeping the refs way too busy! Half the time just to discuss all the rules they don't know or understand. And the worst thing of all, REPLAY! I hate REPLAY! I DON'T want to "get it right"... I'd rather the game just keep flowing. And you know what? They don't seem to get it right half the time anyways, just stop the game for 5-10 minutes for NOTHING. And still everyone isn't sure what was right or what was wrong.
