I see Pitt is still logo branding challenged.

That's the university branding, I'm pretty certain. That said, the University of Pittsburgh is hosting the President of the United States, and your only reaction is that the football helmet logo isn't being used?

Maybe I am just wrong, but I thought that Pitt had changed to the script logo for institutional identity.

No its that rebranding isn't entirely complete... plus I see nothing wrong with the Pitt logo or the University of Pittsburgh logo in that pic ... they've both been associated with Pitt for decades and both are better than block

WELL....

given the gnashing of teeth over this topic for the past dozen years or so.........it seems the Pitt script is worthy of an audience with POTUS

Important to have perspective. The leader of the free world is visiting Pitt. This is a proud moment for the university and a tremendous showcase for how this institution has made the world a better place.
I realize this is a football message board but let's not worry about the sports logo being plastered behind him. (The script can be saved for the next time Dan Marino or Hugh Green visits.)

Most Universities has separate branding from their athletic departments. That said, the Pitt script doesn't have a mascot or nickname in it so it would seem that if the university wanted to adopt it for its branding it would work.

Actually, the fact they are even using"Pitt" on the academic side is a HUGE change. I've never seen that before for something like this...just for the university in general.

More and and more schools (like Miami and WVU) are using the same academic and athletic branding. It just makes sense and Pitt is stupid not to.

The script (or at least "Pitt") should be used in every school and center's logo too. And frankly, Pitt should be trying to get the university seal back on UPMC's logo.

I'm pissed that when I type Pitt on a keyboard it doesn't come up script.
I googled "Pitt palm basketball" because I need to buy a little mini pitt basketball because someone at work stole mine and I hit google image and a picture of Brad pitt shirtless came up.. Im not gonna lie, I was a tad turned on..

When asked if he preferred script, block or diamond cut, Obama replied with "I'm just glad Stevie and Nordy are gone. Duzz is the man to get the job done."

Dear Sir Crazy -

I must beg to differ on use of brand image for events like the Tech Forum which attracted the President. BHO seems to be a sports fan so I'm guessing he "knows" that PITT is a moniker for the University of Pittsburgh... especially in sports.

But I believe an event that attracts the attention of the likes of the President of the USA should see our very impressive formal name: The University of Pittsburgh.

Highlights of the event with "Pitt" on the backdrop screen got on the national news broadcasts last night. Those screens are for branding and they aren't for one person. BTW, the backdrop had the seal and "University of Pittsburgh" in the middle surround by "Pitt"s. You would have never been able to tell what the seal was or read the entire "University of Pittsburgh" if that is all there were plastered on the backdrop screen. "Pitt" is short and clear enough to see and read it.

The most important part of branding is consistent messaging. Pick one. They've apparently picked "Pitt." It is already done. Individual schools have been phasing in its use (e.g. "Pitt Business" & "Pitt Pharmacy"). Now do it consistently across the entire university: all centers, divisions, and programs.
