I thought that

No kidding.
Nobody wanted Miller until he said that he wasn't a candidate. That doesnt mean he turned down Pitt.
Hurley is still on the table...

It's not surprising at all. And if you stepped back you'd:

1) realize that Sean Miller would be all the rumor, but there wouldn't be any substance or seriousness

2) Pitt wasn't going to get a sitting coach at a power program

3) Hurley was most likely going to stay in the Northeast whether its UConn or URI

In fact, I'm actually shocked we are putting the money up and going for the fences with this search. Somehow though the people that have been clamoring for Pitt to do just that will come back and say Pitt screwed this all up. They fail to realize it takes two sides to make a deal. And if they wanted someone in line before Stallings was fired, those candidates that would have said yes at that time are the candidates they don't want right now.

Let's also see too the people on here that claim they'll donate more when Pitt shows it wants to win will follow through. Based on who they are/were going after and the money are offering, I think that commitment is there. Now we need to show our support.

Not showing up to games will get the current coach fired, but it makes it harder to attract a new one.

H2P.

In the case of SM, it sounds like Pitt could have done exactly that and chose not to.

OK, let me restate that, outside of Sean Miller, they are not going to entice a sitting Power Coach.

I do think now that Louisville let go of their coach, he'd be a good pick up. He was placed in an impossible position there.

I guess it just seems that of your three points, 1 and 2 are not as obvious as you suggest and 3 is yet to be determined.

The whole thing kind of reminded me back to when they really went all out for Prosser. It was a bummer and probably never going to happen, but don't see how Pitt can be criticized for trying for the consensus no.1 guy out there.
