There was maybe 15, 000 PSU fans total. The place was packed with Pitt fans. I can't understand for the life of me, why these idiots on talk radio think it will be like half and half each teams fans , or more PSUers, they are crazy as hell.

So that people call in and voice how they don't agree.

^^^^what this poster said. We all know PSU uses attendance as their pillar (singular) of success. If attendance suddenly becomes a non-factor, they are just another middling P5 team playing for 3rd (at best) in their division.

Perfectly stated.

Trillions of flies eat sh*t.......there is safety in numbers right?

Why do people still listen to the car radio? There are plenty of Pitt podcasts out there, even ones from The Fan if you must listen to that station.

You can look at the photos from the Temple-PSU game last year and there were clearly more Temple fans than PSU. And we are talking Temple - who draws about 20k fans less per game than we do. Plus, as you mentioned, I too was at the last Pitt-PSU game and there may have been 25% of crowd PSU at most.

PSU fans are also delusional - they thought they had as many fans as UGA at last year's bowl game, when on TV it looked like it was 10% PSU fans.

I was also at that game. I doubt that there were that many PSU fans there. I thought it was more like about 5 to 1 Pitt. At the end of the game when Walt asked fans to remain in there seats because he wanted to address the crowd, there was a huge number of Pitt fans still in the stadium as PSU fans exiting.

For those that were at that game, anyone remember the first thing Walt said when he came out on the field? If my memory serves me right, it was "HOW ABOUT THOSE PANTHERS".

It's because they are idiots.

Walt said 'What do you think about that"?

Larry Fitzgerald was in attendance....and purportedly decided that day

Other than showing a willingness to spend lots to see their team lose on the road, exactly what does this prove? The number of visiting fans attending games at Heinz Field is nearly always grossly overestimated. The only team that some season ticket holders flip for is Notre Dame--likely due to some misplaced Catholic loyalty? I've never seen a regular season ticket holder turn around and cheer for the Nits or Hoopies--just ZERO chance of that happening. The visiting Nits will get their contracted allotment of tickets...and likely some tickets from StubHub, scalpers and maybe a few that purchased season tickets--but at the end of the day, does it really matter? What matters is who wins the game--and to that question--I expect the answer will be PITT! Hail to Pitt!

I was there too with the wife, 50 yard line. We just graduated a few years before that and was living in the Netherlands, flew back for the game.

I remember hearing the exact same stuff for that game how psu bought all the season tickets and would outnumber pitt fans. PSU had the one corner section of three rivers that was their seats, it was totally filled. Maybe 5K there, maybe 8?? hard to tell, but it was only one corner, so 10% of the stadium at best. And the rest I would say was over 5 to 1 Pitt... maybe 8 or 9 to one. Our whole section had just one guy witha psu shirt that came with friends that were Pitt fans. He was super nice and the 50 yard line crowd was pretty tame. Remember the student section going bonkers. Was a great game! Lets rePitt that game.

I was sitting with a large group of friends in the upper deck because my parents had both my tickets for that game in the lower bowl. The upper deck is obviously where you could more easily buy tickets. Not a single nitter anywhere around those sections.

I remember thinking at the tailgate how there were no nitters around. I thought it odd at the time. They had very few people at TRS in 2000.

I have to think the ones that show up for it this year are in for a very rough experience because there was at least some mutual respect in the past.

I certainly hope Pitt fans don't act like idiots. Those PSU cretins are already spreading lies about past rough treatment during Pitt games, which is complete horsesh*t.

I want Pitt to whoop their a$$es on the field and then watch them slink away.

We sat in section 519 (Yellow Seats) for the 2000 Three Rivers Stadium season. The Enabler U contingent sat right behind us in the orange seats in the 600 level. Never saw so many glum faces in one concentrated area. They never had a thing to cheer about that day as they could barely get the ball over the 50 yard line.

It was very enjoyable watching them stream out of the stadium like rats jumping off a sinking ship during the 4th Qtr.

Outside of their section sitting directly behind us, I agree, there seemed to be many less in attendance than were on hand in 1998 at Pitt Stadium.

There will absolutely be issues. When you have cultists that will insist on defending the honor of individuals who have none, added to the simple reality that some individuals in any fan base will act like idiots, it is a recipe for problems. Cultists will act like cultists. Alcohol will be served all game. There will be ugly incidents.

And for sure, no matter what, cultists will complain about unfair treatment. And guess what, most of the time they'll probably deserve it because it is no one should be feel responsible for offending cultists' delicate sensitivities to the truth that their institution covered up child rape for 30 years and hiring a coach in the midsts of his own rape scandal, among other abhorrent decisions. I'm not advocating anything but cheering for Pitt, but knowing what I do about their fan base and institution, even the sight of their logos physically disgusts me. I'm not going to start anything intentionally. I don't plan to engage them at all. But I have no compunction with anyone standing up for the truth.

Personally, I could care less what they think or feel afterwards because, if they are too offended to spoil our stadium with their disgusting presence in the future, even better. I have no desire to associate in any way with that institution. I know others feel differently, but I'd rather schedule anyone else.

I hope it doesn't get too ugly. Frankly, a noon kick helps some in that regard.

Btw......

If Barnes and company are paying attention..........there should be a video collage of great moments in the pitt psu rivalry.....

Billy Owens
Carlton Williamson
Tony Dorsett
Randy MacMillan

And....rod Rutherford to end this delightful stroll down memory lane

Hail........

They never did get the ball over the 50 if memory serves. One play did but was called back on an offensive penalty. I think I have it taped and need to watch it this weekenbd to get pumped up even more.
