If they want a high-integrity guy who's a great recruiter ... just sayin'. The question is: Would he be willing to take on his old boss in more of a head-to-head environment?

1. Kelly is still employed.

2. ND biggest problem right now is defense. After watching the Panthers the last three weeks, why would ND call Narduzzi???

3. ND is s high profile job. They will be looking for high profile candidates. Not coaches with only 4 games of HC experience.

Pitt fans think the whole country is really high on Narduzzi, because he seems so awesome compared to most of the crappy coaches we've had the last 30 years, To be honest, he hasn't done enough yet to be highly recognized nationally.

People here crack me up sometimes. I like Narduzzi and fully believe he'll have Pitt averaging 9 win a year sooner rather than later. But, I'd be shocked if he's on the short list for ND, USC, LSU, etc. Why would he be? He's in his second season as a HC. He's completely unproven. Until he pulls it out later this season, hasn't won the weaker ACC division.

you can't be serious.

We're at about the same place we were when he sat upstairs and watched the Pitt secondary get torched in that bowl game.

Great recruiter?
Yikes.

They won't call and HCPN has definitely not proven to be anything near a great recruiter. I hope he stays because I still believe he has potential, but he is not even close to proven as a coach or recruiter. If anything, this cycle/season is hurting his standing on both.

If he got the ND job, I he would become an instant success in recruiting the cream of the WPIAL by default...

I imagine plenty of other coaches will be on these short lists that aren't named Pat Narduzzi. This is kind of weird at the moment. Dude went 8-5 last season and is of to a 2-2 start this season. I understand he's respected but I imagine big time programs want to see more.

Recruiting isn't their problem and Narduzzi would be way down the list if an opening did come up.

Hey, they are Notre Dame. Doesn't every coach on earth want that job?

We just lost the last two games, arguably as a direct result of bad coaching and have been torched on defense for three straight games. Why would Narduzzi be on anyone's hot list right now?

While I don't think PN will be heading to South Bend, I wouldn't be betting my house that ND will be choosing from a list of distinguished head football coaches. Keep in mind that this is the school that had to reach for the likes of Gerry Faust, Bob Davie, George O'Leary, Ty Willingham and Charlie Weis. The job is high profile, but is a huge PITA that many top coaches want nothing to do with.

This message board is surreal. It's just the dumbest place on earth.

We are 1-2 against FBS competition this season and people are worried about Notre Dame plucking away Pat Narduzzi... even though they already have a really good coach… And there's really no smoke whatsoever up there… And there's no smoke here either... just plain goofy.

Yes, Pat Narduzzi would have to listen if Notre Dame called him. However, he would also have to listen if the Dallas Cowboys called him and they are not calling him either.

Agree with most, but there is smoke around Kelly. They just lost to a really, really bad Duke team, at home. They are 1-3 and will likely lose to at least Stanford and Miami left on their schedule. Navy and Virginia Tech are probably better than Duke and Syracuse, Army, and NC State are probably their equal. Then they still have a talented, but current dumpster fire, @USC. 7-5 is the ceiling on this ND team and 5-7 is very, very realistic for a team that entered the year in the top 10 and pegged as a playoff contender. Kelly already fired his DC and if he goes 5-7...? There is going to be a hell of a lot of smoke coming out of South Bend.

They sure as hell aren't calling Pat Narduzzi, but I won't be shocked if Kelly gets fired. The one thing that could save him is there being too many top notch openings like LSU, USC, and OU.

That's correct. It's no indictment of NarduzI but he's not a candidate for any big time job. He hasn't proven anything to earn that kind of job yet, and he has barely had a chance to.

Interesting dynamic is that ND has its weakest schedule in years, yet may end up with its worst record in the Kelly era.

I think a lot of Kelly as a coach but he has officially put himself on thin ice at ND.

Doc, you're not wrong about any of that. We have posters talking Narduzzi to ND and even some Chryst to LSU. It's just laughable.

Agreed. If I were a Notre Dame fan and Kelly goes 5-7, I'd want him fired.

I wonder how Narduzzi would have faired with Kelly's talent? Let's not be too quick to lay on the "bad coaching" mantra.

Was the fourth quarter of the last three games sterling coaching? If you say so, I have to call BS
