Wouldn't it be a little easier to swallow if the cupboard wasn't completely bare? Wouldn't it be better for everyone involved if he could take the reigns on a program with more than 3-4 scholarship players and show just how superior a coach he is? The last thing I wanna hear for the next 5 yrs is exactly what has been coming from our friends to the east - "well, what did you expect, the team was gutted, we didn't have a full compliment of roster players... Give him time... Let him get 'his guys' on the team..." That's why I'd like to see the roster kept together...
Because:
A. 7 of Pitt's 9 best players *WERE* coming back. That's a good foundation to start from.
B. Because almost all quality recruits already signed a LOI, it is too late to build a recruiting class.
C. Because of the bad blood with Jeter...and Jeter's relationship with his teammates.... maybe 2 of those 7 players return now.
D. Pitt will be fielding a roster of 5 or 6 scholarhship players and the rest walkons.
If he does NOT keep the roster together, Pitt is looking at something like 14-19/3-15 next year. Try recruiting after THAT. Especially when you're a burned out 57 year old coach that nobody is going to want to play for.
If everyone comes back... he has a CHANCE to go 8-10 or 9-9 in the ACC again. Veteran team that will respect and listen to Knight.
Yeah, why would any coach want to retain 3 starters who will be seniors? Along with key bench players who developed along nicely. And recruits who could play quite a bit.

Vandy is much younger than Pitt. I would rather have their roster next year than ours.
Wait are you serious? They are friends they are going to stick up for their friend. And if Jeter tells Cam or Luther to get the hell away as fast as possible chances are they listen.
They already do. And the ones who CAN transfer, WILL transfer.

But for the other reading.... None of our three recruits are going to stay here for Stallings unless Knight is here too. We have 3 returning starters, and they'll *ALL* be gone if Stallings is here without Knight.
Luther and Cam Johnson might stay. And MAYBE Wilson. Them and Milligan will be the only scholarship players on the roster.
Because if one player has a bad experience with a coach, his opinion on that coach should dictate their future?

There is nothing in Kevin Stallings' history to suggest he would do anything with the talent. And besides, they're losing their best two players in Damian Jones and Wade Baldwin. So I'm not sure that roster would be any better. It certainly wasn't this year.

Stallings is stepping into a situation where 90% of the Pitt fans that pay attention already hate him.... because of the shit he pulled with Jeter.
And as much as we hate him, Jeter hates him more. He took $$$ out of the Jeter family pockets by forcing Jeter to play hoops in Florida on his own dime for a year before he could go to Pitt. He also cost Jeter a year.
Kevin Stallings is public enemy #1 for the Jeter family. Which means Donovan Jeter is gone too. Narduzzi can't be happy about that.
Jeter is best friends with Artis and Young. You don't think he's told those two about what a dick Kevin Stallings is over the past couple years? You think either of those players will want to play for said dick?
Then you have Chris Jones... who as a graduate this spring, can transfer without penalty anywhere he wants.
That's Pitt's 3 returning starters plus their returning 6th man... .gone.
That leaves Luther, Cam, Milligan, Wilson, and Nix.
No recruits worth a damn, because Pitt will let all three out of their LOIs if they ask and there's nobody good left to recruit.
All of a sudden.... Pitt becomes a bottom feeder in the ACC next year alongside Wake and BC.
You can't possibly be as dense as you portray yourself on this site. you just can't.
With the impending defections, and there will be a bunch, TCU is going to win more games than Pitt next season, not to mention long term.
