this a second, and best version of" Dunkirk" i've seen in my lifetime. it's one of the best war films you gonna see. some of the story line is contrived and formulaic-but it's got a kernel of brilliance to it.it's not "saving private ryan",but it's worth paying to see this story on a big screen with first rate audio.cash in your pop bottle hoard and plunk down your dollars.save me an isle seat.

The first five minutes and the last five minutes were good. The rest of the movie was average at best. Too disjointed. No flow of story. Nothing but a series of vignettes semi strung together. Showed boats in England at night; while boats in Dunkirk were in daylight, supposedly at the same point in time. Would not recommend you waste your time and money on this dud.

Well.....you are in the 6%. 94% liked it according to the reviews.

Amazing feat to be able to rescue most of that army from that beach.

Little known, the oft-maligned (oft-deservedly too, for sure) French deserves some credit for fighting off the German army on the outskirts just long enough to keep the Germans from a compete overrun. A lot of them had to figure it was a suicidal sacrifice one way or the other. They likely weren't going to be part of the rescue.

Interesting historical event. But I dunno about a rah-rah movie about it though. It was fortunate, and those involved were heroic for sure, but it was the culmination of a total disaster.

At some point I'll try to catch it though.

I heard similar comments leaving the theater. To those going...and I highly recommend people go see Dunkirk...pay attention to the beginning of the movie where they title the introductory scenes on land, sea, and air as taking place over the span of 1 week, I day, and 1 hour, respectively. The events play out roughly parallel for much of the movie but all converge at the end. Dunkirk is certain to get a Best Picture nod. Two thumbs up.

Movies are for what it is, I'll go for a good war movie for it's entertainment. For real history, you need to read a book written by a scholar. Although it is good to shine a light on this theater of WW2 not many people know about other than reading 3 sentences from a history overview timeline.
